Near a bunch of sheds that aren't 66s.
The Northern line has been dead for the last 3 days with a repeated signalling issue at Kennington affecting via Bank services. This morning also saw a broken down train on the Charing Cross branch which saw the entire line suspended. Official TfL advice is to avoid using the line and use ThamesLink and buses instead.

Has something happened on the Battersea branch extension which has damaged / corrupted the signalling equipment around Kennington?

It’s nothing to do with the extension.

It also hasn’t been “dead for the last 3 days,” as services have resumed when signals staff think they have solved the problem. The failures have been intermittent but todays probably the most disruptive as have been ongoing since before 6am according to Northern line Twitter page.

TfL's latest status update says:
Northern Line: No service Morden to Charing Cross and Morden to Euston via Bank due to a fault with the signalling system. SEVERE DELAYS on the rest of the line. Please avoid the Northern line and use alternative routes. London Undergrounds tickets will be accepted on London Trams, Southeastern, Thameslink and local bus services via any reasonable route.

Does anyone have any more up to date information on how repairs are progressing? The Bank branch has been down all day give or take now.

They are having an attempt at replacing some components in the control centre this evening. If successful then this would presumably be a resolution (albeit they will still need to ascertain the root cause), however if unsuccessful apparently it could make the situation worse.

As I understand it this is not a trackside failure but is believed to lie in the control centre. Remember this system has a very centralised architecture.

It’s rather poor IMO that something a little more useful hasn’t been put out to the wider world. This whole affair does seem to have been handled particularly poorly, especially from a public relations point of view. Feels like there isn’t a tight grip from above on what’s going on.

Either way it’s been a shocker today

Was a bit concerning that this morning they announced that they expected the problem to be fixed at 11:45 which was massively out. Unless they meant 11:45pm or 11:45 on Wednesday of course..
