Given the chaos on Southern as a result of the derailment at Victoria and the lack of any trains from Brighton the Southern website advised people to avoid travelling or to travel later in the day.

Would the maximum 2 hour delay repay be due for anyone following this advice if they did delay their journey or decide to work from home after seeing that?

If you don't travel its not delay repay, its a straight refund.

I was affected by the Leeds closure disruption the other week, but was unaware until after I had purchased my ticket. Immediate refund at the ticket office.

What ticket type do you have and when did you buy it?

I have a monthly season ticket so refund wouldn’t apply in my case it would have to be delay repay.

I don't see why it couldn't be a pro-rata refund, but some train companies may ask you to make such a claim by means of the Delay Repay system.

In the past, Southern have advised (and paid out on) a 2 hour Delay Repay claim in cases of widespread disruption when season ticket holders choose not to travel.

With SWR, I've had a few snow days where they've advised against travel, and when claiming on DR they just say put down "Delay of 2+ hours" (I'm not sure if Southern have a similar form?).

I've always been paid on such occasions with no quibble, though it helps to post a link to the tweet from the official account stating that advice.
