GWR had 2 seating layouts when the HSTs were refurbished about 10 years ago, low density for West of England services and High Density for services via Swindon.
ScotRail only took on the former sets, which have more tables per coach, and therefore less seating capacity.

I am on one now that has a half first/half second class carriage. I thought they were the high density layouts.

In any event it has caused a massive flap with the trolley lady!

There's no composite coaches on the Scotrail Classic sets that I'm aware of. There's a mixture of low & high density standard class trailers kicking about on tbe Classic sets though. One has 2 tables per coach, the other has 4

are they interchangeable in service with the "intercity 7" style trains? ( TBH i didn't realise Scotrail had taken un refurbished units!)

No they aren't, as the unrefurbished Classic coaches don't have the Traction Interlocking equipment that the Inter7City refurbished coaches do. Same goes for the unrefurbished power cars too - they can't work with the power door coaches, for the same reason.

Same set up as the GWR 'Castle' short sets. Some are refurbished power door stock, some aren't

There is one composite in the fleet, 46010, which is currently marshalled in HA32.

Which I must have been sat in yesterday from Aberdeen then.

Sorry I meant as in do they work the same services. However your response is interesting amd much better than my question!

No worries! As far as I'm aware, they ARE interchangeable - they don't have separate diagrams, as such. A refurbished set turned up in Inverness to work 1B54 the other day (1554 to Edinburgh Waverley). I was on the same working Yesterday, but it was a Classic set.

They do have seperate and specific diagrams for both fleets but everything is mixed up at the moment entirely depending on availability.

That must be something that Control do - our diagrams just state "HST/4C". Disappointed I missed out on a refurbished set on 1B54 on Monday - I had that job on Tuesday, but it was a Classic. Not really complaining - at least it wasn't a 170 :D

So another day of appalling service delivery from ScotRail. Think the Engineering Director has some explaining to do as to why her organisation is incapable of delivering the service.

I would actually be in favour of the five 170s going to EMR going now so it removes an easy get out. Might focus minds on delivering trains into service.

How many HST's are out today? Not seen anything on the facebook page.

glad to see that 1B52 and 1H13 are back to being operated by an HST, much needed capacity on those services.

The diagrams on the first page of this thread no longer apply - is that right?

(I mean apart from the substitution issues, the new timetable means that it's all changed)

They're most likely outdated now, but there's still not a set amount of sets out for ScotRail at this time. If there are any new booked diagrams that started in the new timetable today and I am made aware of them, then I will add them.

Thanks. The daily updates are very useful in any case, to get an idea where they are likely to show up.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does the '7' in "Inter7City" represent? I thought they were only four car sets? I scanned the thread but couldn't find confirmation.
