What do you know about the company?

Can anyone tell me what key points and how much I should know about the company? I’ve researched driver depots, where services are run, how many employees they have, how many stations they manage, how busy a network they are. What else would you add? Thanks

Hi,

It’ll probably be largely competency based, so try to have a few experiences saved in your mind you’re able to draw upon. It’s hard to say exactly what you’ll be asked as all TOCs and FOCs differ slightly, as do specific depots within the TOC or FOC. As long as you keep focussed on safety mainly, followed by customer service, when using examples, you’ll do okay.

With the ‘What do you know about the company?’ question, just learn as much as you feel you’ll remember. It’s often one of the first questions you’re asked and is likely only briefly covered before the main competency questions.
When I sat the DMI, I just reeled off company facts until I was told to stop (which wasn’t after that long to be fair).

I got the sense that this was more like a warm up/ put you at ease question. Although I did shed loads of research and decided to focus on one particular area in my area as demonstrate that I know not all is perfect & there are currently some challenges which I’m fully alive to.

Argh, I’m so worried about this question and not being able to give enough information to satisfy them. I’ve got till Monday so will just keep focused and hope for the best. Thanks
