So just to make sure I'm not barking up the wrong tree, set 2 would be:
11501-12701-12702-12703-12801
And set 5 is:
11505-12713-12714-12715-12805
Is that correct?

50% correct! Set 1 would be 11501-12701-12702-12703-12801; set 2 would be 11502-12704-12705-12706-12802. For each subsequent set, just continue the sequence.

Not to go off-topic but Cl802 and Cl397 will be introduced quite rapidly in the autumn, crucially for the latter as the Cl350s need to head off elsewhere. A few MkVa diagrams will be entering service this summer, with the rest being introduced at a slower rate than the other fleets due to the focus having to shift to deliver Cl802 and Cl397.

So the fleet that was specially ordered because it could be in service "quickly" has had to be put back behind those that were always going to be "later"?

If the order had been all 802s, the number of 802s currently completed would still be the same as it is now- so any extras in lieu of the Nova 3 sets would be many months away.

To be fair to TPE though it’s now the right thing to do - especially considering the Caledonian Sleeper situation, can you image a set throwing a wobbler in rush hour on the core Trans Pennine mainline, they are clearly not fully confident as they are now starting to accept sets quicker. Also they can’t be trying to train staff on 2 or 3 different trains at the same time and the 80x are now seemingly able to enter service quite quickly.

It will be interesting to see if ‘autumn’ in genuinely autumn for the 802s or ‘railway autumn’ ie 31 December and also how quickly is quick.

Agree, it's long been proven the 'in service sooner' idea of the LHCS is a bust, but they still have a capacity shortfall to mitigate ASAP and so bringing the staff training on the stock that does actually work forward to get at least some new trains out as early as possible is the right move, just not the one most people expected.

It is going to be very interesting to see how platforms 13/14 at Picadilly cope with these longer trains. Badly I suspect, adding to existing chaos.

The problem with the way these platforms is being used with the new timetable is that you have passenger flows that used to wait on larger platforms under the main shed cramming on to what was already a rammed platform. Tonight I experienced an Edinburgh TPE followed by a York TPE followed by a Lime Street East Midlands. Absolute carnage. These are all major intercity trains and 3 sets of intercity passengers are being held in a fictional pig pen by a load of understandably less than bothered minimum wage 'security staff'. The signage on the platform is woeful. It is absolutely pathetic. 20190710_183504.jpg 20190710_183504.jpg 20190710_184236.jpg 20190710_183504.jpg 20190710_184236.jpg

When the longer trains come some of the carriages will sit back past the pig pen onto the narrowest part of the platforms. Chaos will become even more chaotic and just bloody dangerous. You would not let your Mum catch a train off this platform, simple as that.

Building the chord without platforms 15/16 was a monumental cock-up.

While going off topic a bit, its going to be interesting in a couple of weeks when Virgin Trains start calling at Platform 13/14 with their Anglo Scottish services diverted via Piccadilly due to closure of the line at Acton Bridge for Engineering Works.

Nova 3 driver training runs are showing for tomorrow between Crewe and Wavertree Junction:
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sea...11/0000-2359?stp=SC&show=all&order=wtt&toc=TP

Also shown for Friday and then Monday to Thursday next week.

Best wishes to all involved.

68025 & TP04 down for these, posted by one of the guys involved with the training on Facebook group.

Oh dear... First run of the morning cancelled!

Reported elsewhere on another forum that the new plan is for four sets to be in use by the end of October- we'll see!

Let’s see what happens over the next few days with the driver training runs for Nova 3.

It’s not unusual for the light engine workings off Crewe to be reduced to one a day each way, so that might well be the plan here.

I also don’t read the emphasis on Nova 1 and Nova 2 as being a negative towards Nova 3.

As has been documented on the forum, the Class 350 units are on sublease and so are expensive plus have a hard deadline for handing back.

The Nova 1 sets will allow TPE to offer expanded journey opportunities on the East Coast to Edinburgh/complete an ORCATS raid, depending on how charitable you look at things.

As always, best wishes to those working on the Nova 3 introduction.

It is worth pointing out the carnage at Manchester Piccadilly yesterday 10/07/19 was caused by a dewirement at Tallington on the ECML and LNERs passengers were being routed WCML and TPE via Manchester causing massive overcrowding on TPE services

So definitely no new stock by Friday 16 August and (thankfully we're travelling late-morning when things aren't so bad) we'll just have single 185s Piccadilly-Huddersfield-Newcastle?
I don’t think

precludes new stock by the date you mentioned. But I honestly don’t know...
