The last race has rekindled my interest a little, I'll be watching the final part of qualifying, and hopefully we get a proper race again tomorrow. Hamilton so far has been fourth fastest in practice (sorry if that's wrong, just scanned the news yesterday) so hopefully someone can beat him to pole.

If people want to watch sweaty blokes in Lycra then that’s fine.
That's what the web was invented for!
Not my cup of tea I must admit; but a cyclist friend explained that cycling gave him a good excuse to shave his legs and wear tights.

Lewis Hamilton show then this weekend is it?
Shall be giving the tv a wide birth then.
Well channel 4 anyway.
Is the BTCC on this weekend as that’s always a good laugh with messers Plato & Neal.
Or is it that Tour de France nonsense which to be honest has never been a good laugh (in my opinion anyway)

Our next door neighbour will get arrested one day I’m sure with what he wears when in the saddle.
He looks a right t*t especially after a ride when he can hardly walk due to his saddle lol.
No BTCC until the Tour de France is over, ITV4 is committed to the cyclists.

.

Well you can always watch the Cricket! ;)

Much more entertaining than F1, plus you're supporting your own country, rather than some tax dodging ****, who doesn't even live in the UK

He was 2nd in FP2.

T20, possibly - Test, absolutely no chance. It's quite literally the same as watching paint dry. Paint also could dry in the time a test match takes place.

I agree, but C4 are showing the World Cup final on Sunday, which is a One Day International (50 overs) which is much more exciting than a test match.
But isn't an F1 race spread across 2 days with all the qualifiers etc, so it's not that much shorter than a test match?

Just been watching Anthony Hamilton talking about about Lewis.
I couldn’t spend more than a couple of minutes with Lewis before he’d bore the legs off me.
His dad however, I could sit him in a pub with a table of beer & listen to the man all night until we both fell over drunk.
I’ve not seen him for ages at a GP.
Why did he stop going?
Did Mercedes tell him not to go?
Same applies to Lewis with his damn dog.
He went everywhere with his mutt then it stopped.
Again was it Mercedes?

Anthony used to be Lewis's manager, but Lewis ended his working relationship with him in 2010. Thus he didn't have a reason to go to all the GPs, and I think Lewis wanted him to stay at home.

Hamilton's dogs are very much prevalent still as far as I can see.

Well that was quite the race today. Another 1-2 for Mercedes with Lewis getting the win and fastest lap. Charles was excellent and well deserving of Driver of the Day. Meanwhile, Vettel's position is looking more and more and more at risk with that incident with verstappen. A driver of his calibre should not be making such mistakes as he did. He's a four time world champion and is making such rookie mistakes - not even Russel & Norris have made such mistakes this season.

Ah, yes, Vettel... after that display, which the commentator politely called a mistake, and taken in the context of other incidents in the past couple of years starting from when he deliberately rammed Hamilton in one race I do wonder if he is still a fit and proper person to hold an FIA super licence...?

Well that's your loss

Defo no loss for me.
As for the race Leclerc & Verstappen were outstanding.
As for Verstappen versus Vettel.
Jesus H Christ, what was Seb thinking.
End of the day he missed his braking point & it screwed both drivers races.

Whatever! You missed out. Massively. There was more drama in that one game of cricket today than in a decade of f1. Keep telling yourself the brum brums were as fun as the cricket. They weren't.

I have just looked now who won the f1. Not interested today and I say that as an f1 fan!

Nope didn’t miss out one bit.
Watched Gower once at our local cricket club.
Watching paint dry is underrated.

Whatever. You missed out today. Massively. i will bet you that f1 has never had the drama or tension there was in that match.

How many over takes today? 3? 5? Was the lead swapped over and over with several drivers pulling off do or die overtakes up.the inside? Were people battling right to the line and winning by a flared nose cone? Did the leader falter right at the death or mechanical failure rob someone of the win? Did William's or maclaren or sauber win?

Of course not. Hamilton won.

F1 is like watching paint dry these days. Dull. Dull. Dull. No characters. No competition
It is often a procession.

Like I said I am an f1 fan but we have to be honest. It is dull no matter how much sky hype minor bits of action.

But county test Cricket, and two world class teams playing in a World Cup final, are completely different beasts in every single way!

I watched the whole F1 race, the end of the third set of tennis to the end of that match, and the Super Over that determined the Cricket (plus some of the New Zealand innings, and snapshots of the England innings). I'd rank them for excitement in the following order:

1st Cricket (Super Over)
2nd F1
3rd Tennis
4th 80% Of the innings (since I don't think I've got enough patience to watch the whole match when you don't really know who's ahead until the second half of the match)

All were hugely exciting and all the winners would have been different if a key decision has been different. Mercedes could have put Hards on Bottas's car, Federer could have converted one of his Championship points on serve, and England or New Zealand could have got one extra run.

The great thing about races is that there's more than one competitor, and so it isn't just about who comes first but also who comes 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... 19th.

Your loss, it was an action packed race. Hamilton Vs Bottas, Leclerc Vs verstappen, the safety car period, Mclaren Vs Renault, Vettel rear ending verstappen. The only good part of the Cricket was the super over.
