Most stations have ‘Train Times’ posters, listing departures by destination. I’ve noticed that the level of detail on these vary significantly. Some show destinations that can be reached by two changes of train, some with one change, and some only show destinations that can be reached directly from the station. This makes wonder who determines the content of these in terms of the level of detail. Is it the relevant TOC, Network Rail or who?

It probably depends on how many sheets the destinations will spread over.

I’m not sure they even list all stations where no changes are required in many cases.

It’d be interesting to know how many people actually use the printed timetables on display, rather than the electronic screens. And if they do use the printed posters, do they use the ‘A to Z train times’ or the individual line timetables (if provided)

I use the printed versions. (When I'm not using an app of some description)

I use the A-Z. Don't know if I've seen one by route.

The A-Z ones are very useful. The only per-route ones I can think of are TOC specific ones at stations they happen to run, ignoring other operators, which are far less useful.

It shouldn't be allowed to use these boards for advertising unless the station has so many of them every platform already has the A-Z timetable posters.
