Car Parking around M25/M4 area

Good Evening.

I have an appointment on Monday afternoon in Central London. I am an infrequent visitor to London, so am after a bit of advice.

I am unable to book any advance ticket to London due to the nature of the appointment, not knowing the duration etc, so I will be driving down the M4 towards Slough. I would prefer not to drive into London itself due to traffic and the congestion charge etc.

Therefore, I am looking at car parking around Slough, Datchet, Staines or even Feltham, and jumping on a train with an off peak day return ticket.

Can anyone recommend a good, accessible car park with a high chance of available spaces at around noon on Monday around the above areas please?

Datchet has a car park opposite the station, is this likely to have available spaces at this time?

Thank you

There are reasonable car parks at Datchet, and Staines, and also Ashford.

A London Terminals ticket from Datchet is valid either to Waterloo (or Victoria etc) or to Windsor (with a walk between) to Slough and Paddington depending on what suites your movements within London. Other options include a little bit further round to somewhere like Chorleywood or Rickmansworth with the Met line and some Chiltern services into Marylebone.

Is your final destination on the Piccadillly line? If so then people have recommended Hillingdon tube in the past.

That's just off the A40 rather than the M4, so it would need the M25 or A404 to change transport corridors. It's a slow all stations run to Central London whether by Met or Picc.

Stations with a fast service to a London terminal can be advantageous if you can time it to catch one, So that's High Wycombe and Slough or to a lesser extent Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross. The bigger problem travelling during the day is knowing which car parks are likely to have space.

Thank you for the replies.

I'm more concerned about the availability of parking spaces rather than speed of service into London.

I'm going to try Datchet I think. That's within easy reach of the M4 (I'll be coming from Bristol) & has a frequent service into Waterloo with a reasonably priced off peak day return ticket.

Should I have problems parking at Datchet, I have nearby alternative options at Ashford, Slough or Staines, so I should be OK hopefully.

Make sure you get the right car park at Datchet. Especially if buying your parking ticket on an app. The station car park only has a few spaces but is (or at least was) run by a different company to the larger car park on the down platform side.

Shepperton has no real car park but there’s a car park which I think is the town hall a few minutes walk away that you can park for a day for a couple of quid (May have gone up).
