quick question everyone I used oyster PAYG from zone 6 to Victoria everyday (in the afternoon). I pay 4.10 for a single each day (I don’t get the train back so only use it one way)
If I buy a network railcard can I add this to my oyster card and pay a cheaper single fare or not ???
Does anyone know how much a single would be if I were to add it

Many thanks

You cannot add a Network Railcard to a PAYG Oyster for discounted fares. You can only do so with a Gold Card, in addition to the other national ones.

You cannot add a network railcard to oyster because it has a minimum fare of £13, so the undiscounted fare would need to be nearly £20 and almost all oyster fares are under £20.

If you make this journey every day season ticket might be worthwhile.

Alternatively the lowest price Gold Card is Hatton - Lapworth at £164 per year. Bear in mind that if the journey you make is a 'peak' fare then it won't be railcard discounted, although you do benefit from a discounted daily cap.

Of course the £13 wouldn’t be relevant at weekends, but the system isn’t clever enough to deal with discounts that vary during the week, AIUI from previous discussions the subset of national railcards that are accepted are treated the same by Oyster, they are just loaded as “National Railcard”...

The one exception to that being the Disabled Railcard, which is listed separately due to there being no peak time restrictions for same.

Note, the all-day cap is not discounted, only the off-peak one. With a railcard attached to an Oyster you get different caps for all-day and off-peak, where off-peak is everything after 0930 (including the afternoon peak).

Say you made a single journey from kentish town to london blackfriars, on a Saturday or Sunday . If you had an oyster with a network railcard loaded, you could get a third off, from the usual oyster zone 1 zone 2 fare?

No.

As @bb21 said there is no PAYG discount with a Network Railcard.

You cannot load a Network Railcard discount onto an Oyster card.
