I need to travel from Harpenden (HPD) to a Travelodge near Heathrow. Google suggests a tube to Hounslow West and then a bus. I'm returning a few days later directly from Heathrow T2 to HPD which is an obvious £26 tube & Natioanl Railj ourney

Can I get a ticket inclusive of the bus?
Virgin site offered a HPD to London Zones 1-6 ticket, Chiltern site offered a HPD to London All stations. Do either of these include the bus?

I'm traveling on a Thursday early evening (7 pm'ish) in December, 2 of us with a Network railcard

Sorry for such a basic question but I always struggle with Heathrow ticket pricing

The only tickets you can get which include the bus are are Travelcard tickets, meaning the Virgin website is the one to go with.
It may well be best to pay for the bus seperatly using a contactless card or oyster.

I think it would be better for you to buy a HPD to London terminals ticket, then use oyster to travel to the destination instead. It's much cheaper if travel in off-peak.
Do remember to load the railcard discount to oyster card in TfL travel centre or TfL ticket machine (with assistance from station staff)

Network Railcard discount isn’t available with Oyster however...

So, I think it would be best to get a ticket to the nearest National Rail Station which is Southall

What days of the week are you making these journeys on?

I have similar advice to friends of mine who I suspect stayed in the same hotel as you.

They travelled from Bedford to Hounslow West then by bus to the hotel on a Saturday.

The following day from the hotel to Heathrow by bus.

Then the following Sunday from Heathrow back to Bedford.

The cheapest fare was a Network Railcard discounted Super Off Peak Day Travelcard from Bedford - London Zones 1-6 for both days and then to use Contactless on the bus to get to the airport on the Sunday.

Train to St Albans then the 724 bus might also be an option, but this only runs hourly. When I last took it there was a month return ticket for £15. On the outbound get a separate bus to and from the Travelodge using Oyster or contactless.
