Some of it got moved out to the "coffee" thread as it wasn't really FLIRT specific.
How is whether the bimode flirts will or can have trollies not flirt specific? I don't understand how it's "trip planning and reports" so I will post no more about it until clarified. :(

No, were not allowed to talk about coffee (rightly). Discussion of the catering features themselves (rather than the actual food and drink offered) would seem within the scope of the thread.
good point!

Heard two different stories today, the short set will continue to operate until October, then heard it finishes this friday as new train enters service on Monday
Overheard that GA are having trouble assigning enough drivers to do mileage accumulation, particularly over the weekend. Not sure if true or not but the pressure is obviously well on.

They seem to be trying to get the mileage up on 755417.. any bets on the first into service? This morning it was standing waiting for everything else to get out of its way on that Norwich side platform behind the wall on Platform 1. The driver looked a little peeved at the class 90 set being moved into sidings across his path. On a separate note.. NIN seems like a bit of a disaster.. cancelled almost as many times as it runs this month.

STOP PRESS Looking like introduction of 755's to Great Yarmouth from Norwich on Monday. From Monday they are not stopping at Brundall Gardens ( owing to new selective door opening not working?)
STOP STOP PRESS (MONDAY AM) It didn't happen!!

That conflicts with other information I've heard on here suggesting it'll be September before any passenger services start. That image could just indicate a problem with Brundall Gardens station.

745101 seems to be approaching the UK in the next days, it was spotted this afternoon in the German city of Trier, on transport towards the French border.

Plus Haddiscoe as well for the 19:55 from Lowestoft. All services listed are on the current short set diagram.

Have also heard that the 755's and 745's will not have their numbers in TOPS, only GEMINI ? If that's is true, a bit of a pain !

Why two locomotives for for so few carriages? What a waste of fuel!
I remember early on there was a suggestion the two locomotives (only one of them at any point actually providing power) would be replaced by loco+DBSO - for some reason this didn't come to fruition, unlike in Cumbria

They do 60mph in 64 seconds on 4 coaches..and then coast most of the rest of the way. How much fuel is used in that 64 seconds?

Because the BSO was supposed to be a DBSO but that went to Northern for the Cumbrian Coast & they paid GA for the additional cost. How would you get away with one loco otherwise on a dmu diagram?

Ahh yes...but growl per £ factor is worth it lol.
Oh yes and both locos powering is needless but pleases the enthusiasts :p Its the leasing cost that seems to have increased, I don't think any railway worries that much about fuel cost.

There was also a crew training cost for the DBSO to be used.

Not sure how true, but I'd heard it's something to do with phase of the power for the carriages. The phase is not stable enough when accelerating/decelerating. The loco on the rear has to be used just to idle, to supply the carriages with a steady phase for the lighting/ETH etc. Could all be nonsense though and i'd admit seems a bit extravagant. Probably more to do with avoiding having to do a loco runaround (as trebor 79 says).. or maybe even because 2 locos at 50% power are more fuel efficient than one at 100%.

No that's all wibble. Both locos provide traction power.
Class 37s were used for decades on hauled stock without needing an extra loco on idle just for ETH.
