I recently moved to the Midlands and now the proud owner of a free bus pass which also allows free travel on trains in a designated area. My question is when my partner travels with me within this area can I purchase a disabled ticket for her as she is travelling with me. Just to add I have of course a disabled rail card, many thanks.

A good question and I wish I knew the answer.

Common sense would say yes as she is fulfilling the identical function as if you had purchased a ticket. But I'm sure common sense doesn't necessarily come into it.

I suspect you will be disappointed.

No you can't. The Manual says:

"If the Disabled Persons Railcard holder is travelling on a Freedom Pass, Centro Concessionary Pass or any other concessionary pass offering free travel, they cannot use their Disabled Persons Railcard to buy a discounted ticket for an accompanying person."
