On the Stagecoach West website it says that, in addition to the changes due on 04-August, there will be further changes in September. The VOSA Bus Service registrations for today, 23rd July, include the following from Stagecoach West (Cheltenham & Gloucester) in respect of the Forest of Dean area:

Revised / Registered:
- 84 Yate - Wooton-under-Edge
- 85 Yate - Wooton-under-Edge

Deregistered:
- 30, 31 Gloucester - Coleford (Surprising!)
- 711 Cinderford - Ruspidge
- 717 Lydney - Cinderford
- 757 Lydney - Lydney Station

I would be surprised if a replacement didn't appear in some form for the 30 & 31. I guess the 711, 717 & 757 have perhaps been retendered?

HTIOI,
Dave

On the topic of the 30/31 service there are many new registrations of routes in the Forest or Dean network. Which probably replace these routes being cancelled.

The VOSA Bus Service registrations for 25th July contain a number of items for Stagecoach West (Cheltenham / Gloucester) and perhaps give a better idea of what the changes for September will be in the Forest of Dean. To my small list in message #1531 (above) can be added the following items which are all effective 01-Sep-2019:

Registered (not alterations AFAIK unless specified):
- 22, 23 Gloucester - Coleford
- 24, 24A Cinderford - Chepstow
- 25 Cinderford - Coleford
- 27 Cinderford - Lydney
- 35 Ross-on-Wye - Monmouth
- 710 Cinderford - Kensley Vale
- 713 Cinderford - Mitcheldean
- 746 Ross-on-Wye - Cinderford
- 748 Blaisdon - Westbury-on-Severn
- 755 Lydney - Primrose Hill
- 761 Chepstow - Beachley

Cancelled:
- 727 Lydney - Parkend

Notes on the above:
- the 22 & 23 are new, presumably as replacements for the 30 & 31.

- Service 746 is given as Ross-on-Wye - Cinderford which suggests withdrawl of the section of route between Cinderford and Lower Lydbrook and no sign of a replacement service for this part of the 746.

- Regarding the 24 & 24A: there is currently no Service 24A but Service 24 is currently Gloucester - Huntley - Mitcheldean - Ruardean - Joy's Green. This addition of Chepstow - Cinderford to the 24 is interesting especially as the 24 does not currently serve Cinderford. Perhaps this is reinstatement of Chepstow to Gloucester, albeit perhaps by rather a scenic route?

Registrations also feature today for the X5 and 7XP which are being taken over from First WoE on the same date.

Dave

I was hoping that Stagecoach wasnt going to carry on with the pointless 7XP reference! At least it stops people finding it on websites!

I knew I'd got them the wrong way round almost as soon as I'd sent it. Perhaps next time I'll look at the site that I maintain first!
I wonder if Stagecoach will look at a resurrecting a Stroud-Chepstow service (ran 1966-1973)!

Stagecoach are taking over 87 from Tavistock to Bere Alston from Target in September. Any ideas if they will also take over the rest of Devon County Council contracts as per 87?

Apart from routes that serve Dartmouth do Stagecoach Dartmouth drivers have rostered duties on any other routes?

A summary of Forest of Dean network changes from 1 September are now on Stagecoach bus website.
Quite a few interesting changes including a reintroduction of a direct Chepstow to Gloucester but via the a more scenic route via Cinderford and Mitcheldean taking 2 hours end to end.

Notice how Cinderford will “benefit from improved connections” but sees its main route to Gloucester halved (though I remember it being hourly in the past).

This must be the 4th major recast since they bought Dukes?

The 24 route does supplement the 22 service every other hour from Cinderford which takes 50 mins via Mitcheldean and the more direct 22 route which operates hourly via Westbury-on-Severn which takes 37 - 40 mins to Gloucester.

Hence my reference to the “main route” and I doubt that the 24 will augment it much. Then again, it’s a reflection of how hard it is to create a sustainable network in the FAAAAArest!

20190809_133521.jpg It's not often I see a Stagecoach bus with a personalised number plate so I'm curious to know what the significance of this one is if anyone knows?

I think this is it...

It was originally on a Solo of ABC Travel of Southport, who were bought out and eventually became part of Glenvale who were then bought by Stagecoach.

At some point, the Solo was withdrawn and the plate transferred onto a Dart locally which has since been transferred to the Midlands

S22ABC was originally on a Solo, new to ABC Travel, Southport. Under eventual Stagecoach ownership, this became 47157.
The plate was transferred to the Dart when 47157 was transferred to (then) Stagecoach North West, the Solo becoming S964 BBV.

As the plate has no particular significance or value in the grand scheme of things, it's been kept with the Dart rather than retained by previous operating divisions.
