Train 1H27 has the wires down on or very near the train, and evacuation plans are being made.

1A26 is alongside. The doors of the Pendo 1H27 are open and passengers visible fanning themselves, so presumably no air-con, been there 2 hours now. Both as seen from the Camden webcam. Passengers on 1A26 are now two hours late too.

Problems north too around Oxenholme, 1S58 was stopped and now running 90 minutes just north of Penrith.

There's been an electric explosion resulting in loss of all power and damage to the wires at West Hampstead Thameslink/Belsize Tunnel Also reports of a lineside fire.

Greater Anglia have suspended services on the West Anglia route due to “multiple issues”.

SE seem to be collapsing wholesale. Already operating a reduced service, many services that were supposed to be running have been cancelled.

Got on a delayed service towards Blackpool North from Manchester Piccadilly. Apparently there have been issues in the Fallowfield area, I think the announcement said they were related to signalling?

Anyways, finally got on the 319 and it was absolutely roasting! When I got off the train the 34 degree temperatures felt cool. Must have been reaching high 30's/low 40's on the train.

What do you mean by "an electric explosion"?
That was as a result of the problem. The overhead wires have parted and are down just outside the North portal of the fast lines. I am currently on 1C37 stuck in Belsize Tunnel.

As reported a little earlier upthread, the wires coming down have caused a lineside fire just outside West Hampstead too.

Having seen tweets from quite a few passengers on the trains stuck in the area, some very close to platforms, I fear we may be getting some passengers forcing doors and jumping onto tracks shortly.

The guard on my EMT service just announced unlikely any trains will be heading to STP for the rest of the day due to the train stuck in Belsize tunnel.. good luck if true.

The trains overall have done a remarkable job this week in difficult conditions.

The staff as well deserve credit.

So it sounds like wires sagging, - maybe caused by one or more droppers failing. There would have been a flashover when the sagging wire(s) touched something that was grounded (most likely a train) and a spark or two has caused a grass fire. The flashover isn't an 'explosion' and probably wouldn't have caused much more damage than some pitting of the wires at the point of contact before the feeder switchgear removed the supply.

Wcml south people: it is chaos. Suggest ice cream and pubs with beer gardens until service restored.

Hope passengers on stranded trains are rescued pdq!

May have spoke too soon.

People were warned not to travel by train today.

Cannot emphasise enough how people should avoid EMT and TL this evening if able. The Belsize issues are going to be huge and the power supply in the core is fragile to say the least right now

People reportedly collapsing and having panic attacks on 1H27 now. Pax asking the TM if they can smash the windows.

Reports of wires down in the Peterborough area. So - ECML & MML will have minimal or no service to London UFN. WCML also most unhealthy.

I'm guessing this is rail related in that a track side fire has suspended EMT services into and out of St. Pancras. To add to that, one of their services is stuck in a tunnel with a man collapsed and a pregnant (or heavily pregnant) lady gone into labour. Ouch!

What service is this just out of curiosity?

From the webcam, the Pendo doors have been open for about 90 minutes and until recently, there were people fanning themselves at each open door. They've now gone, so presumably finally been transferred over to 1A28 which has also been there about 90 minutes. Passengers on both trains have now been trapped for nearly 3 hours. It's not surprising that problems are starting to happen. Could they not have just evacuated it via the Camden yard - it's not as if it was in the middle of nowhere?

The lineside fire was caused by the OHLE collapse at Belsize Tunnels, but has now been extinguished.

They were still on there as of 1620 I hear. Apparently First Class were let off onto 1A26(?) but the rest of the pax kept on.
