Birmingham New Street power box had an operation semaphore distant signal for Soho road. When the exit signal from Soho Pool was green a semaphore distant which must have worked through a relay cleared to off. I often wondered if the signaler in New Street box was aware of this. Did any other power box have a semaphore signal on their panel or console. Graham

This was discussed on the signalbox.org forum before it finally disappeared and the verdict was no, the Soho Pool distant was the only example anyone (and there were hundreds of years worth of signalling experience between the members there) could come up with. Plenty of semaphores drawn on but none worked

Gloucester panel had a worked semaphore distant, under Norton Junction’s section signal, until only a few years ago.

Not a signal, but Leicester powerbox did have an old block instrument for communicating trains to and from Frisby SB.

Harrogate Box is an interesting one; historically a Semaphore Box (and retaining such signals and levers) it also controls an IECC workstation equipped with ARS.
