Hi all,

I'm new here : ), looking for an information for my master Thesis that I can't find elsewhere, I hope you can help me.

I'm would like to know: the average price for a new coach bus (preferably net); for a single decker and double decker.
I found quite easily prices for used coaches, but didn'T for new coaches.

Also, what is the average insurance cost per year for the coaches?

Studying the differences between the markets in Europe.

Thanks in advance !

Varies considerably. However a new ‘lightweight’ single deck is circa £130k - £150k depending on length - more if London spec or with additional features. Double deck circa £200 - £220k provincial spec, again more if a London spec or with added extras. Coaches vary even more but £220k to well over £300k would be a typical range.

Insurance cost will depend on claims record and location. £2k pa if you’re very lucky and work is ‘low risk’. £10k pa or more if bad claims record or what is regarded as high risk work. Figures are per vehicle per annum. Larger groups will ‘self insure’ which means they pay less, but take much more risk of a big loss.

Coaches depend on spec was asking my boss today he said a Van Hool like Megabus one you are looking at between £350 000 and above , one like the Oxford Tube with wooden flooring and comfy seats from £400 000 and above. For a Levante you are looking at £230 000 upwards.

Good luck with your thesis. My employer bought a new Plaxton Elite i interdeck for £350000 in 2016. Outright purchases in the bus and coach industry are rare these days though, most companies get vehicles on some kind of finance, be it HP, some kind of operating lease etc.
