I've literally just received an email inviting me to 2nd stage assessments and it just says MMI - Pre Interview Form and the MMI itself

Hey buddy, been having a read through the last couple of pages as I’ve not looked for a couple of weeks. When did you do all the online stuff? I did my online application, personality profile test and the alphanumeric test at the end of June and it’s been radio silence ever since. Also, which area were you applying for?

Hey all. Just out of interest I was wondering if anyone knows what classes of trains a driver based at Reading would work?

Thanks in advance.
Hey, a reading driver would mostly drive 387’s, with some 800 work as you go up the links

Is that including the Newton Abbot training centre? Do you know if that training centre is open yet?
Hi, there’s some Driver Training happening out of NTA but it’s not a proper academy, let’s hope they keep doing it there!

Hey. I did the tests back in December when the vacancy was advertised - even though I'd done exactly the same tests for SWR a few months earlier, so the email inviting to do my MMI was completely out of the blue!

Its often said on here that patience is key when applying for jobs on the railway and I couldn't agree with that more - my SWR application is still live from March 2018!

Edit - Forgot to say that its Paddington that I'm down for

God, you did them in December and didn’t get a response til this month! Given that I only did mine in June, it would appear I could have a fair wait on my hands then. I did email them for an update, being very careful to be polite and not seem pushy, and got a very generic response back today to say they have my application and when they have an update they’ll let me know.

I'm afraid it is just a waiting game, although it doesn't hurt to occasionally email them for an update although be prepared for that generic reply! The other thing I've noticed is that there is no real correlation between when you apply and when you get selected for a test/interview. Some people have gone through the process in weeks and others have waited months despite applying for same job at the same time.

Received my contract in the post today. Still pending references I think. So weird it's a bit real now. Haha

Nice one. Well done mate. I’m in the talent pool for Exeter. Do you have any idea for next available courses?
What did they say at the end of your interview pal? I was told Novemer and February (in June) but someone else on here has just been told February

They said to me they have courses penciled in for November and early part of next year but didn’t tell me what month next year.

I was told that February was the first date available.
February will soon come round, would be nice to get on that course. If we was to get on that course when would we likely hear from them? Do you know if they give you much notice?

Not sure when we would hear, it obviously needs to give us enough time to have a medical and hand in notice, so 2-3 months at a guess?

I had 3-months, but I’ve heard of others having much less.

Unfortunately circs at home mean that I would be unable to drop to a trainee drivers wage in August as this would be the only income in our household. I therefore had to pull out of the August course which is frustrating to say the least.

I’ve been placed back in the pool and told there are no spaces on Nov/Feb as spaces have been sorted, even if some are not aware yet. Beyond Feb it will be into the new financial year and on, as course dates are not known yet.

I also run the risk of being bumped down for any internals before this.

I’m a pretty optimistic guy so everything happens for a reason, so it is what it is. Thought I would share as an update, not a sympathy vote!!

Ahh gutted mate, does this mean the 12 month time limit on your talent pool spot will run out or is there no time limit?!
