I made a journey from Colchester to Chester on Thursday 25 July, though the off-peak return ticket I bought was to Bangor and was intending to alight at Flint due to a change of plan, where I was going to be collected by my dad. Due to the severe disruption that day the 19:10 Virgin service to Holyhead was cancelled and I got the 20:10 train to Chester, but got picked up in Chester rather than Flint as the next service would have incurred a 40 minute wait in Chester.

Had I traveled to Bangor I would have arrived over 2 hours late, but as I arrived in Chester an hour later than I should have and did not finish the journey (and I was entitled to break the journey with that ticket), how and what would I be claiming with Delay Repay?

On the return on the Sunday I arrive 15 minutes late, so would be eligible for 15 minute delay repaty with Greater Anglia. Again I started the journey at Chester rather than Bangor.

Technically, you should claim one hour delay up to Chester.
However, I don't think it is problematic (morally) to claim for 2 hours delay as you have intended to travel to

The value of the ticket is unchanged, and you claim for the actual delay you incurred (at Chester).

If you claim for the 2 hour Bangor delay you would get £80 as its the full value of the return ticket. If you claim for a 60+ minute delay its 50% of the cost of the return ticket. With delay repay you claim for what actually happened. So in your case it would be the delay into Chester.

Greater Anglia delay repay system comes into play for delays of 15 minutes or more. So if a delay to their service caused you to arrive at your destination 15 minutes or more late you can make a separate delay repay claim to them. I think its 12.5% of the cost of a return ticket in compensation if there is a 15 minute delay.
