I never managed to cop 91108 before, but with its reprieve I managed to ride in front of it as it propels 1Y82 from Stevenage to Kings Cross so I can confirm is currently running the diagram listed above, posting this from its set wifi. Here's a bad photo in the rain, might get a better one in London which has the number clearer
What's the current situation with 91116? Is it back out on duty or still in bounds green for repairs after the fire damage?
WELL DONE but to scrap ? another 10 years in um yet.Farewell video from 91108

Those are after arrival at Kings Cross, showing the farewell messages everyone wrote in the dirt.

This is just a loco going out of service not the end of an era.
Maybe not the end of the end, but it is the beginning of the end...
They don't really. They're around thirty years old and have covered about 7.5 million miles apiece. They're increasingly worn out and have had a good innings for an express passenger locomotive designed for a specific purpose. 91108 is to be used as a source of spare parts to keep 91116 and 91125 (IIRC) in service for a few more months.WELL DONE but to scrap ? another 10 years in um yet.
Some of the stock, however, might have another ten years left in it.
Not a huge development as such as many of the APT features and developments are in the 91 (whereas a 90 is essentially an updated 87) however the ,91 is also the limits of DC electrical traction and transmission technology and is very highly stressed as a result.
A slightly different point of view from Roger Ford of ‘Modern Railways’. I have to admit, my recollections from the time are a bit hazy!

Nice salute on twitter. Someone posted 91108 dropping it's pan for the last time.

He is correct, and it is one of those myths that has been repeated many times on here and debunked every time, yet still people believe it.I believe he is correct, that 91s have only a passing similarity to APT power cars.

Just look at the builders:
APT a BR Research/BREL product with ASEA traction kit
Class 91 a GEC-Alsthom product.
When will the next Class 91s be withdrawn?
