Am I right in believing that there are only two carmine cream units still in service, one of them being 314216?

As I understood it there are 7 units in service, with liveries being:

202 SPT
203 Saltire
205 SPT
209 Saltire
210 SPT
214 Saltire
216 SPT

Thanks a lot! :) I kind of like how they've kept four of the carmine and cream units this long rather than scrapping them all first, it is a very nice looking livery.

I agree with you, though 205 is looking rather forlorn with its graffiti streaks.

Makes perfect sense really, if you consider the impact of wheelflats across the entire WCML left by un-reprofiled units being hauled.

Presumably the cost of reprofiling works out less than the cost of six low-loader movements? I suppose it’s a long way from Glasgow to Newport.

Despite continuing 385 deliveries must be short of stock this morning. 314210 out on a Wemyss Bay diagram vice a 318/320. Been some months since a 314 went there I think.

I think 210 covered a Wemyss Bay diagram for a full day in June as well.

There were more out yesterday than I'd seen for a while. 205 still getting about, despite being pretty grotty it always seems to be out in traffic.

My prediction (or secret hope) is that 205 will be the last in service - I worked at a bus garage once where we were similarly running down a fleet, and the grottiest example externally proved to be the most reliable and lasted right to the end. In fact generally speaking, the stock with the oldest/worst exteriors were usually the most reliable - were never stopped long enough to get repainted. Conversely, those with the best paint jobs were usually the least reliable.

314205 is currently my favourite unit.

Certainly seems something of a unit shortage just now - virtually nothing lined up outside Shields Road this morning.

If 205 is the last unit in traffic it would be nice if they gave it a clean up at some point.

How long are the 314's expected to have left before all are withdrawn? I am up in Glasgow at the end of summer and wondering whether there may be odd ones still about come then. Also, are they only working weekdays now?

December timetable change and they work Saturdays I believe, not sure about Sundays.

Excellent - thanks for that. Will probably get one whilst up there all being well :)

I've no idea how reliable the weekend workings are, particularly Sunday - there being only one diagram, but weekdays you should have a pretty decent chance.

Yeah, Sunday looks limited. I am likely to have some time around Glasgow on a couple of Saturdays and maybe a weekday as well so I would hope to find something, if they've not all fallen apart by then

Hopefully not! They've 7 units for a maximum 5 diagrams so even if one unit does go bust there's a small contingency as it were.

Good luck!

Anyone know the current status of 204? Last I heard of it it was at Eastleigh works.

Still stored inside Eastleigh works awaiting developments, I don't believe it is now required for the purposes it was originally taken to Eastleigh for.

Pretty sure there's also only one diagram on a Saturday as well.

Thanks for the heads up. How many units are being stored over at Yoker now? The rest of class still in service may see it out until December....

Definitely still there an hour ago, unusually both pairs had active stock in front of them, one a 320 and the other a 318.
