Great effort from someone there! Is it fullsize or a little bit smaller?
Its about 5m long. This picture gives a bit more idea of the scale.

So I've not seen or obviously been on any of these Class 755/745 Flirts yet, but do like the look of them and the idea behind the removable/changeable power car and was expecting plenty from the Swiss firm Stadler.
So from those that have experienced any of these new sets, what do you think?
Is the noise from the power cars quiet from the interior?
Are they a comfortable/pleasurable riding experience?
Are they showing reliability from day one?
I know it's early days but just wondered what peoples thought were.
Two units out today.
755418 on 2P12 08:36 Norwich - Great Yarmouth
755410 on 2P50 09:06 Norwich - Great Yarmouth
sure, but which angle of the environment are you looking at.
doesn't necessarily have to be turbines either(i get the bit about them chopping up marine life into little bits), but other means of generation are available....the barrages have electric floats with magnets in which bob up and down, works the same way as the old record player needles/arms do.
I gather the Class 37 was out as well on a Control Diagram.
Question answered - the marine life.
are any more FLIRTs still arriving, its all been quit on the delivery front
What's a Control Diagram?
been posted elsewhere that the first 755 on Norwich to Cambridge duty’s starts tomorrow??
Maybe yes maybe no, 755418 has been taken out of service this evening due to a wrong side door release incident which needs investigation. If it's back out, then maybe from the 0633 Norwich-Cambridge onwards, if it's not then 755410 will just cover the 37s diagram as normal.
So far i understand it has been diesel only. The Great Yarmouth diagram seems to involve a trip to Crown Point - possibly for refuelling. In which case it appears to be relatively few miles between top-ups / refills! But this might just be cautionary until it is established just how much fuel is consumed on average per diagram! One of the anticipated issues with the flirts was anticipated to be fuel range with rumours the sets would need to be refilled during a daily diagram.
How has this panned out?
Are the current diagrams 100% diesel or is there some electric action?
Putting the Flirt on the 06:33 Cambridge is the only one that doesn't require ASDO during the diagram.
Oh so it doesn't look like today's the day then unless it's slotted in on that diagram later. One thing is for sure is that it won't be on the 07:34.I’m not there to witness it, but a passenger just tweeted a photo of the 06:33 and it’s a 170.
So i’ve just taken my first ride on the 12:36 Norwich - Great Yarmouth.
First impressions is that they are a massive upgrade, not only for the rural lines but for the intercity too. The carriages are light, airy and spacious. The windows are very large, giving a much better view outside.
The low seating position as a result of the step free access feels a little odd to begin with but it’s no issue! The higher seats towards the end are not noticeable and in fact give a nice commanding view of the train.
In terms of noise ... when you are sitting in the vestibules leading onto the power pack is about as loud as being on a 156. Once you are a vestibule away from the pack, the noise tapers to being almost non-existant. The ride quality is good and much smoother compared to the other stock on the line.
The PIS is fairly standard, the loading gauge will be useful and it’s fairly clear to understand, not sure how it will display 12 carriages on the intercity though.
The seats are comfortable, with a nice position and no problem at all with legroom.
The only niggle is that when trying to board people had left their luggage in the gangway, blocking some doors and making it difficult to board, but that’s probably due to the average IQ of Yarmouth than the trains!
Overall I am impressed.

I believe 755410 has failed on the depot this morning so no Stadlers out at least for the morning today.
I would have thought that with today's technology it would be possible for doors be prevented from opening unless next to a platform.I would hope that if the wrong side door release was down to the driver some compassion/understanding is shown by management as Norwich drivers haven’t had to release doors in the past so it’s a new train and a new procedure they are having to deal with.
It's been done on London Underground on their newer trains for years using beacons on the platform faces.I would have thought that with today's technology it would be possible for doors be prevented from opening unless next to a platform.
