Hi All,

If I wanted to buy an Advance ticket online, other than Cross Country, are there any other webTIS that allow free amendments?

Thx

Although with TransPennine, they do it as an excess so you need to allow sufficient time for it to be posted out. Theoretically, with XC, I believe you can do it up to the day before.

With XC is it just their own advances they amend for free or any TOC?

Cheers. Good to know TPE are offering that now too - I quite often buy tickets through them for the TOTUM/NUS discount and have had to chuck a few out in the past because I'd changed plans.

For some reason, if you want to change a ticket that cost less than £10 on TPE's website it doesn't let you, even though there is no fee. Unless that has changed recently. However today I booked two tickets in the same transaction totalling £15.80, then decided I should have booked the same journey but earlier in the day. I wasn't optimistic but when I went into my order it did allow me to change both tickets, so it seems it's only if an individual transaction is less than £10 it doesn't allow it to be amended.

Southern is another that don't charge.
IIRC, I think they were the first to do this.

Is that for any TOC? As I recall they were the first to do that for their own advances only.

If some are doing it, shouldn't all vendors just do it? Normally buy from sites that offer good cashback (such as Omio) but there is that limitation. Granted I usually stick with my purchased plans but did have to make one amendment recently. (Let me know if there already is a thread on this, or to start a new one!)

Oh yeah - I misread the bit about changing tickets to a flexible one, which does incur a fee.

You can change on xc up to a few minutes before the the journey I think, certainly you can do it the same day, I’ve done it many times.
