Hi, I have an assessment day booked for the 21st of Aug I have looked at the practice material they have sent, which I had to buy
and really is not clear as there wasn't any practise material for the Numerical Computerisation Test nor was there one for the Railway Verbal communication Test, can anyone shed any light on the day and any inside knowledge that could help me pass.

Thank you in Advance

Hi, I just did my assessment with SWR last week. You are right that the practice material is not great. What job did you apply for?

It's a long day - they will check your ID then you start with colour vision test (if doing safety critical role). After that you do 3 tests, then hang around while they mark it. If you pass you will do a further 2 or 3 tests depending on what role you applied for. They will let you know if you passed or failed assessment centre after that.

The numerical reasoning test is just standard maths. Addition, multiplocation, subtraction etc...I am not good with maths but found it very easy tbh. Just brush up on that and you will be fine.

I can't remember the name but I think the verbal reasoning test was the one with the CD recording. You listen to it and take notes and then have to read back the notes to the assessor. They mark you on how well you communicate the info and detail you include.

In my opinion, they aren’t generally tests you can prepare for because its purely aptitude based, keep your brain active by using apps such as Lumosity. Best of luck!

Best of luck to you on your assesment day, I second 'JaMa9' long day but pretty straight forward and what they send you "practice" material wise is enough or was enough for me anyways.

Just remember they are sifting through the right candidates and the hard part comes later, just follow and do what you are told.

They let me download two pages of some practice material but not all, plus two pages are very easy to remember

Maths is first, then the symbol test and a multiple choice reading one if I'm not mistaken.

Good luck, I am now interviewing for Waterloo as well as they had no vacancies left at my original depot choice .

I posted this on an older thread but this one seem more appropriate.......I’ve very recently put in for a guards role and surprisingly have got through to an assessment centre in two weeks time. The quickness has taken me by surprise especially reading various posts on here.

I’m pretty happy re most of the psychometric tests but haven’t studied maths since leaving school many many years ago. I’ve paid for and downloaded the suggested questions (£9 for about 10 questions )

Does anyone have any suggestions or helpful tips for the Numerical test (NPT 2.1)

Thanks in advance

Honestly it isn't an advanced numerical test...
Addition, subtraction, times, divide, percentage and basic fractions.

Best of luck.
