Are you prepared for the complete write off of any social life?
Working for 10 - 12 hours overnight on freezing Saturday nights - Sundays in the middle of nowhere starting at god knows what o'clock.

Its basically what i do already, so im used to the lack of social life. Although on the application it states network rail like to have a balanced work and home life? Is this what you do?

Come on, he's applying to NOT WORK RAIL lol not some agency/contractor lol.

Don't know about track rats but have seen the OLE rosters and they are rostered for roughly 50% work days per year, they can then work their 'off' days as overtime if they wish.
