142021 is on the list of those to be withdrawn this weekend. If it hasn't worked since 26th July, it looks like it is already withdrawn?

Looks like that along with 25 maybe finished! Number 66 was around Tuesday in the North East. And number 16 and 22 were on Saltburn/Darlington and Bishop Auckland services yesterday. Today none of the above were around with a 156 and 158 covering 142 diagrams in the North East.

Another planet...
It's a shame one hasn't been repainted into the old provincial blue or GMPTE orange colours for the swansong... probably not worth doing now, at this late stage of the game.

But if they'd let me at one I'd do the painting myself, I'll even bring my own brush*

*=can't promise I'd get it exactly right, or even get close! ;)

As 142001 is being preserved by the NRM, it probably would be worth repainting it into original GMPTE orange livery, although it wouldn't be 100% authentic, as it was never in service in that livery with the later doors. I remember that in early 1994, 142012 was sporting bright yellow new doors in contrast with the orange livery for a few weeks, prior to repainting into the new GMPTE livery.

142030 was parked in a siding at Newton Heath on it's own earlier, down for withdrawal I wonder if that one is finished too.

The plan was to paint 001 in its orange livery, I hope that's still possible but let's face it, Northern struggle with day to day operations let alone anything 'frivolous' out of the ordinary.

I've always thought provincial livery suited the pacers quite well
Of the original 142 liveries, the Cornish skipper chocolate and cream was my favourite. The 150/1s carried a variation of the pale blue Provincial livery from new.

Were 16 & 22 out today at all? They are the last ones I need for photos and planning a trip over from Manchester on Sat to do a Tyne & Tees ranger if they are likely to be out.

They were out on Wednesday on the Darlington-Saltburn line and both went back to Heaton late Wednesday evening. When I checked at around midday Thursday they were still on Heaton with no allocation. Let's see if they appear on Friday....

Rail magazine have added 005/046 to the list. First I've heard so maybe them two also?

I heard on fb that 005 is being displayed at Man Vic on Monday with special decals applied before then being withdrawn.

005 on my service this morning from Stalybridge to Wigan, paired with an ex merseyrail example, unfortunately it was locked out of use, and we were crammed like sardines on the other unit.

I've been ramping up my Pacer spotting ahead of their retirement. Have gone from around 20 spotted to 60 this week, including most of the ones that are imminently retiring. The only two of the initial batch that I am missing are 142021 and 142030 which are hiding away. IF (and accept it is an if) these are hiding at depots can they be spotted easily from the train? If not, I can console myself that two of the 142s have been scrapped so I was never going to get the full set anyway!

Conflicting reports on social media regarding 142030. It seems that along with 012-4 and 033 are going to Heaton to replace pacers 016, 021/2/5 and 66. And are not for withdrawal just yet.

Yesterday 030 was easily visible from the tram heading past Newton Heath if its stayed where it is.
