I have a screenshot from the 2nd March 2018 of an SWR train reaching Christchurch 1286L after breaking down in the New Forest(!)
This is the Aberdeen train staggering into Kings Cross 496 late. That's plenty late enough for me on the train I usually catch down on a Friday.

The New Forest one was pretty horrific. That was the one that got welded to the rails in the snow wasn't it?

Yes, that was a very bad event, as the train lost power very quickly and the temperatures dropped inside the carriages to very low temperatures indeed.

The passengers were detrained and crew swapped via a floating bridge from an XC voyager about 7am, the new crew took it forward to Hinton where it reported 876L, I’m surprised it then reported 1286L and Christchurch. Quirk of open data feeds?

I remember knowing about that one but for some reason the Aberdeen to London train being delayed for around 8 hours feels like a longer delay.

I suppose you can at least say that your better in a warm HST with droplight windows to open or close than outside.

I've been waiting at Abbey Wood for an Elizabeth Line service since December 2018

Back in BR’s day, in the late 1970s we won a trial contract for a block chemical train from a location on Merseyside to a location on Humberside. The schedule was set up, the train loaded and the resources were allocated but then ‘pinched’ and again and again and again and again and again. It did successfully run, only a week late, but for some unfathomable reason never developed into a repeat or regular flow.
