I got told I had the job in April and still haven’t heard anything either. Little bit worried about it. Emailed them and they said I was a reserve and when a job becomes available I would be called.
Don’t know whether to email again or whether that is coming across as pushy. This is for the Swansea depot.

Further update.... (got accepted into talent pool for for Customer Hosts in Penzance back in March) BUT still no news!!.. and now Penzance depot are advertising for customer hosts for the night riviera service. What phone number did people phone for recruitment (I've seen people say that they have called) as I keep getting a message saying leave a message or email. when I do this they tell me I'm still in the pool - I'm getting super nervous that things are taking so long??
The Night Riviera is a separate job.

Also jumping on, I got offered CH role in March and still waiting for a start date as also in talent pool. The 6 months will be up soon so I'm really panicking now... has anyone else had to wait the full 6 months?

Have you tried ringing or emailing them? I was in the pool for about 3 months but I know people that interviewed with me and started before me.

Yea I just got the generic HR response that my position is on hold and to be patient basically. Trying to be as patient as possible but just really want the phone call now

Railway recruitment can be a long and convoluted process. When I was applying for various posts I got into the habit of phoning up recruitment every Friday afternoon and politely remind them of my situation, I was practically on first name terms with the lady I often spoke too. I like to think it helped by building a rapport with the recruitment team and would show I was motivated. Did me no harm and here I am 13 and a half years of railway service.

So many people apply for railway jobs these days and it's easy to see how some people can slip through the cracks. So checking in regularly with the right attitude is not a bad thing.

First of all congratulations to the members on here who have been successful in getting their jobs.

I have been a member on this forum since April and I've quickly realised that job applications in the railway industry are extremely competitive.

Sadly, I've not been fortunate enough to get myself fixed up with a TOC. I've failed at the paper sift for a handful of applications but I was lucky enough to attend an interview last month for an office based role but sadly I didn't get the job.

The HR people in any TOC have extremely difficult roles and they most be completely run off their feet with sifting through applications and making some very difficult decisions.

Patience is the ultimate key to any railway application and the waiting game is a difficult thing to overcome. I will say that I have applied for many jobs outside the rail industry and a lot of organisations don't even bother to get in touch with you. Fortunately TOCs are very curtious and at least let you know if you've been unsuccessful but it does take weeks sometimes.

Hi Jaz, did your email say you were in a talent pool or on a reserve list? Also have you heard anything from them.

Hi I was told I was on a reserve list for 6 months and if a position becomes available my application will be one of the first considered for the role.

Thank you, I am not sure. From my original email it said that if a position didn't become available in 6 months I would have to re apply. You could email first group for an update or further information on this. My position if everything goes to plan will be in Exeter.
