Since the Stagecoach EMT franchise is ending on the 18th of this month, and Abellio taking over, will EMR keep the 222s or replace them with 802 IETs/Azumas?

I thought they were replacing HSTs and 222s with new 5-car bi-modes.

As @hexagon789 says, but it will be 3 years away so plenty mileage left in Class 222s on the Midland Mainline.

Both the HST’s and the 222’s are being replaced by a new model of the AT300. They’ll have 4 underfloor engines per 5 car (instead of the current 3) and will be 24m length car’s instead of 26m.

The problem is they’re replacing them all with 5 car units and intend on doubling them up however most people agree that they’ve not ordered enough units.

how's that going to work? EMT has 30 HSTs which i'm guessing means 15 sets (6/8 car) and 30 222s (mostly 5 car) and their replacing all those with 33 5 carriage AT300s and, if the 2 citations on wikipedia are right, 4 5 carriage 180s from hull trains. they definitely haven't ordered enough trains. i'm guessing their going by the bare minimum under the franchise agreement, may be wrong though.

There’s another thread that has dealt with these questions. We really don’t need another.

Perhaps lock this one?
