Sorry but them doors on an InterCity unit are just wrong (It's been said before). Should have been plug doors (too late now i know), would have looked more sleek.
It's not just aesthetics - plug doors would have been much quieter at high speeds and also cause less aerodynamic drag.
Seems to work fine on the Javelins.
They can and do, they’re on the Scotrail units being delivered now.Well they do work obviously and Javelin is just a commuter unit really, not an InterCity which should look the part and as @Ben Bow says. In my view!
Japanese can't build plug doors, maybe!?
The Shinkansen units, which the 80x units are derived from, have all had pocket doors. It might be the case that Hitachi (and their Japanese competitors) have had no experience building high speed units with plug doors. If the DfT had mandated plug doors as part of the IEP contract, things might be very different; it's entirely possible that Transport Scotland requested plug doors for the 385s (although that's only my personal speculation).Well they do work obviously and Javelin is just a commuter unit really, not an InterCity which should look the part and as @Ben Bow says. Thought they could!! Doh! Class 385s.They can and do, they’re on the Scotrail units being delivered now.
The air and the dirt cannot tell the difference and we've enough of new trains and doors for a little while.Well they do work obviously and Javelin is just a commuter unit really, not an InterCity
802202does any one know what the grey 802 is parked on edge hill seen about 10 minutes ago thanks
Just seen 802202 twice at Huyton.
It's doing Liverpool to Liverpool via Earlstown test runs
350s leaving should only be covered by 397s, not 802s.Are the 802's close to entering service considering they've now been introduced on other routes?
350's are leaving TPE now, so seems kind of pressing that they keep their fleet numbers up...

That's probably true. Not sure how many (if any) 185s they can afford to send that way...Yes, but with the 397's not being in service, rumour is the very stretched 185 fleet will have to cover for them or cancellations will ensue. MK5A's were supposed to start on Friday, but haven't.

No they weren’t. Wibble.

There was supposed to be one train I believe, not a 7 day service from that day.I'm afraid you're the one posting wibble. Friday was a concrete plan for a Nova 3 set operate a passenger service. Another date has been chosen, but I am not at liberty to divulge, no doubt it will leak out anyway before the event.
