The Robin Hood line trains have EMR regional stickers on the side - sadly they have just rubbed the dirt off and applied the sticker rather then cleaning the whole train which is a bit of shame. They are also running an hourly service from Nottingham to Worksop tomorrow (sunday) for the first time in many years.

Does anyone else tire of the considerable waste of money involved in this continual rebranding ?
I don't mind an internal and external refurbishment of stock at regular intervals, but when you see the same service or lack of, same trains, same stations, same staff, increasing prices and lack of comfort and seats, it's quite irritating to see new stickers, new liveries and minor cosmetic adjustments.
And apart from the few enthusiasts, the general public probably won't even notice the stickers. A passenger travelling from London to Sheffield couldn't really care whether it's called EMT, EMR or ERM. They want a seat, at a reasonable price at the time of their choosing.

Privatisation doesn't seem to have improved comfort, capacity or reduced prices for customers. It has simply diverted revenue into the pockets of PR merchants, branding consultants and those providing the stickers, posters and paint. Rant over.

I think you have to keep a sense of perspective - EMT re-liveried everything when they took over in 2007 - that's 12 years ago. Reality is that most units will be due a refresh as will station signage. And BR were no different in that respect, just that they might have painted in the same colour.

I think privatisation HAS improved comfort - the 350s are better than the 321s which preceded them, personally I prefer EMTs 222s to their HSTs as there is better legroom and I find the high backed seats in the 222s much comfier.

Don't worry. They'll stick with it until 80% of the fleet is done and then change it all again.

It's too dark for my liking. And dark colours sometimes show more of the dust and dirt.
A nice neutral silver or grey which didn't need to be changed with every franchise would do.

Problem with First. Stagecoach and Virgin is they cover the whole train in their corporate colours so the trains have to be re-painted when new owner takes over. Thameslink, Great Northern branding seems better with little to change if the franchise changed hands.

Most of them are vinyls so not painted as such. As for silver / grey - no thanks. The East Coast stuff looked utterly drab in that awful primer grey with purple stripe - utterly hideous.

Personally I think electric blue, as in original E3000 series locos would have been nice to celebrate (partial) MML electrication. I can live with Aubergine though. More tasteful IMO than the garish Stagecoach house colours.

RTT says they are - didn't see any signs on the station telling everyone about it though.

For Shirebrook to Whitwell and EMT trains from Worksop RTT shows no trains at all for the 11th, as it shouldn't, as they're not running.

They're being done so quickly it's hard to keep up. 156411 has definitely received EMR branding.

Appreciate keeping the list updated @43055

Lots of changes to come over the next few weeks.
Not a problem. Thank you for starting the thread.

Ok thanks for the additional units. I have added them to the list. I did see 415 yesterday in EMR and that was it. On a PRM 156 the new logo does look quite good.

Thanks for updated list. Great 11 years photos.
Thank you :)

A 5 car class 222 (didn't get the number so it may be already marked) not only has EMR logos on the outside but EMR aubergine safety posters in at least one carriage. Worked the London end of the 20:26 from Sheffied tonight.

Hard to see why ELEVEN years is thought to be so special as to be worth adorning trains. Not ten years? Very odd.
Not odd, not difficult to understand.

The EMT franchise ends next weekend and they are (rightly) celebrating the achievements in the 11 years (not that far off 12, actually) that Stagecoach have held the franchise.

Those achievements being what exactly?
The continued lack of capacity?
The significant deterioration of the internal condition of the internal state of the mainline fleet compared to the beginning of the franchise?
The ongoing staff shortages leading to regular ticket office closures?
The ongoing industrial action that stagecoach have made next to no attempts at resolving?
The advanced fares that are consistently significantly higher than similar length journeys on other intercity operators?
The gradual extension of journey times on the mainline in order to give commuter trains greater and greater priority?

Remember that it is being taken over by a company that ruined a timetable that had worked perfectly well for a decade.

57384 has got the 11 years branding on door exteriors. Saw at Crewe tonight.
For what it's worth, the number you're quoting isn't the unit number (as seen in the list above) - carriage 57384 is 153384, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the correction skyhigh. I posted in a rush and forgot about the correct list.

Might have been the same one I saw in Kidsgrove this morning too.

Most of which is not in the control of the franchisee, but is DfT driven.

I do think your reaction is myopic, churlish and more than a little immature.

Agree with you on that one. East Coast and National Express liveries were hideous.
