Are these HSTs still capable of 125 or limited to a lower speed? Between Worcester and Bristol there’s a lot of potential running above 75mph!
Restricted to 100MPH with 4 coaches, I believe (but I'm happy to be corrected) that if they have 5 or more they can do 125MPH

Went on a ‘Castle Class’ mini HST today with power doors, between Truro and St Erth and the interior ambience and comfort was far superior to the IET I had last week. The seats were so far superior in the HST it is ridiculous.

I did notice 2 points. The acceleration was nowhere near as marked as the IET, which you could actually feel pushing you back in the seat as it pulled away. Maybe the HST schedules do not require it?

Also, when stationary, there was a vibration that was visibly making the seats move. I was in the TGS. Would this be vibration picked from the adjacent power car?

It might be the motor under the Mark 3 coach. I've had that when I've sat in roughly the middle Mark 3 coach.

When I catch a Castle HST (probably early next year on a shorter trip when they're all refurbished), I'll try and aim for the single seat in the TGS depending on how the train is formed (meaning if it's forward facing). I bet that seat is a favourite for us rail enthusiasts but particularly those that want a seat to themselves!

I wonder when 43158 & the coaches for GW11 will go to Doncaster for refurbishment? GWR now has 6 out of 11 of the castle sets.

As a complete guess, after GW10? ;)

Unfortunately it'll not be just before GW12.

Yes I know there's only 11 sets, but I'm sure they could easily find a use for an extra set or two.

I think thisis the required post:
GWR to operate short 'HSTGTi' sets

GWR power cars so far modified with the interlock are 43004/016/040-042/092/093/098/153/154/170/186-189/194/198. This leaves 43005/094/097/122/155/158/192 to be done, of which 43005/094 are at Doncaster.

Most likely an XC set, the 3rd one to be done. Very unlikely a GWR one as the last one was only released a month ago with about one every two months released for GWR this year.

When i departed Doncaster earlier it looked like the XC set was been made ready for depature.....

Out of interest there is a 2+4 covering a 158/9 today with obvious plans to swap out at Bristol on 2E30 (To Gloucester) tonight

2P84 10:51 Penzance to Plymouth
2C47 14:09 Plymouth to Penzance
2E88 16:44 Penzance to Exeter St Davids
5E30 20:00 Exeter St Davids to Taunton
2E30 20:35 Taunton to Bristol TM

There was, yes. 2E88 on GWR's JourneyCheck page shows it as 4 coaches instead of 3 due to a fault on this train. Sorry for the late reply.
