Sorry for being slightly off topic here, but I noticed that Go Cornwall’s 12-plate Wright Gemini’s have been transferred to Go North West which were used for the 89 service. Is the 89 still in operation?

I saw it last Friday and about a week before that.

Atlantic Coaster Solo 53255 on service 47 and blue Uni E400MMC 33301 on a T1 this morning. Open top 37058 still receiving attention in Camborne.

It’s been a dart more than an Eclipse (they aren’t Gemini’s)

Tinner E400MMC 33458 and a car had a coming together in Camborne this morning. Minor damage to both vehicles but the bus was taken off the road and replaced.

I took a ride on 33301 on service T1 earlier. It had the ‘next stop’ audio and visual working for that route which was interesting. It would be good if it was retro fitted to the Tinner E400MMC fleet.

Earlier I also rode on Trident 33240. Oh dear what a crock that is. The interior saloon lights were going on and off all the time and there was a strange grinding noise coming from the rear of the bus. Rear lower deck seats seemed rather too hot in my opinion also. Driver was aware and apologetic but not good in my opinion.

Hopefully some newer cascades coming our way sooner rather than later to see off the older Tridents.

Yeah sorry, I meant Urbans. Always get mixed up between the two  and the only times I’ve seen the 89 service, it was the Eclipse Urban running it. Never seen a Dart on it.

33420 also had a disagreement with a car in Marazion last Wednesday while on a U4 service from Penryn Campus to Penzance, but couldn't of been much damage as it was in service again the next day on the U4

Trident 33148 and Tinner 33452 on U4 services today, 33452 currently on the 10:40 service from Penzance to Penryn Campus

I had this one last night on a 93, an 87 both ways followed by a short 91. First blue one I’ve had on Newquay services

I did wonder how it was going to work in Cornwall. Answer: it doesn't!

Re the Atlantic Coaster Solos, have these deliberately been moved away from Penzance due to capacity issues in the Summer? If so I'm not in the least bit surprised.

I believe that they're putting low bridge signs on the M5 near Thornbury and the M4 by Bath so that all double deckers are diverted along the M32 ensuring that they are drawn into the Lawrence Hill vortex.
Update from FK behind the Scenes is that 17 B7TL Geminis are now due from April next year, somewhat later than was expected. Presumably this will also be dependent on the Cornwall Council tender results as the new contracts start on 1 April.

Given that they're B7 rather than B9 they'll be somewhat long in the tooth by the time they arrive, following the long-held Cornwall tradition of replacing knackered old crates with slightly less knackered old crates.

It certainly seems that way, the 46/47 doesn't have much in the way of loadings so a Solo or Dart is more than adequate. With the school holidays as well there are more deckers available all day than at other times so makes sense to put them on the busier routes serving the seaside towns.

Well I can't see all the current Trident's surviving until next April. Indeed several have already been withdrawn in the last 6-12 months. Perhaps FK hope to get through the summer without too many failures and then managing over the winter when there aren't so many deckers needed, other than for Truro college.

When the winter timetable starts the frequency reduces on some routes (and presumably the PVR) so perhaps a case of "make do and mend" until next spring and see what happens with the current routes under retendering?

Shame after all the new stuff in recent years that some of the cascades due appear to be not much newer than what we have already got.

With First London no more, there are fewer buses to cascade, of course, especially dds.It had to have a knock-on effect, and now it's reached us!

Perhaps we will get some E400's or B9's when Go North West or Rotala upgrade their fleets and dispose of the First inherited buses?

I suspect that might be about the time First Bristol gets it's gas buses.

I believe the Go North West fleet was sold so is unlikely to come back.

Yep GNW bought the first fleet. Rotala will hand back vehicles over a 2 year period with some already arriving back since introduction of new Streetdecks and Ex Yourbus Citaros.

The position with the GoNW fleet is, as Carl stated, that they were sold to Go Ahead. The fleet with Rotala is a little different. Some e400s are scheduled to return later this year (think it's December) followed by incremental returns back to First of B7RLEs and the remaining e400s over the next two year.

I suspect that might be about the time First Bristol gets it's gas buses.

Good call. First Bristol is due its new buses next Spring and most of the native examples (and the ex London ones) were refurbished in 2013 so not as rough as some.

FK has done very well with new vehicle investment in recent years, it has to be said

Spare a thought for First South Wests poorer partner, Buses of Somerset it gets First Kernows cast offs. Incidentally Tridents 33125/27 proving very reliable, quite nice vehicles for BoS standards.

We should of kept the 12 plate E400s that use to be used on the Uni routes until November 2016, instead of sending them to Bristol. They were pretty confortable and I believe reliable, much more sturdy then their replacements.

With one of their replacements, 33478 on the 93 again this evening, currently on the 21:40 service from Truro to Newquay

From (this) driver point of view the MMCs are a million miles ahead for driver comfort

I must agree even from a passenger perspective, the MMCs are pretty confortable, hope the seats don't get more hard and worn with age

Interesting how all the seats on the window side of the new vehicles that get more sunlight are changing from the red colour to more orangery.

Yeah I've noticed that around the edges on the seats, more so upstairs so far than down, maybe they should of picked orange or a lighter colour to begin with
