Anybody heard anything yet?
Nothing yet ! With it being a busy time of year for leave periods I guess it’s going to be slower than usual ! I’ll probably drop them an email come the end of August just to see what’s happening

How did it go ? Mine was meant to be today but I’m currently the other side of the world so it didn’t work out well ! What did they say the next steps are now ?

Definitely, it's a bugger of a ladder to climb, I'm hoping the top isn't far off! That's pretty cool of them to reschedule.

Sorry to hear this. By interview are you talking about the MMI?

Yes, the interview they conduct after you have done the assessments. Is the 2 tries accross all rail companies or does it just apply to the 1 that I have already tried for (in this case DB)?
Lots to think about on the journey home, can always think of better answers to the questions after the interview!

If it’s the interview after the assessments and not included in them, then it’s the DMI, however I’m not convinced I’m getting the right end of the stick. The MMI is part of the psychometric assessments (and subject to the two strike rule), whereas the DMI isn’t. Your two strikes is across the board for any and all TOCs or FOCs I’m afraid. The DMI is different and isn’t part of the assessments so you can have as many of these as you like for any number of companies.

To clarify, MMI is the one you have a set five or six questions and you have to prepare these before the interview, and expand upon your answers during the interview.

Ah ok, it was the MMI then, so first strike I guess.

I found it pretty hard to come up with situations that suited the questions that they were asking, back to the drawing board I guess, hopefully there is another recruitment drive within the next 6-12 months, atleast I know what to expect next time if I'm able to get through the paper-sift again.

Good luck for next time. Was it just that you slipped up on? You may find it’s easier to progress through a sift having passed most of the assessments!

Yes just the MMI, rest of it was all good. Shame they can't give any feedback on the MMI, but then I guess it would make it easier for next time.
I was surprised there was only 4 of us on the assessment, and 2 went home after the first set of tests, other person I was with was already a shunter with DB and said it was his second try, made me feel a little better when they said I'd failed!

They should be able to give feedback. In fact, they will be able to. Can’t think why they said they couldn’t? Admittedly it won’t be that in-depth though.

The woman said she can't give feedback on the MMI as it would make it unfair for other potential candidates? I.e I would have an advantage if I applied again. She said I just needed to generally tailor my answers to the questions better, but couldn't go into any deeper detail than that.
Pretty disappointed, I didn't think the interview went that bad, obviously they didn't feel it was enough.

The MMI you need to really sell yourself and give as much infomation across on your anwser as possible. If your steer of the question and start chatting waffle they also mark you down. Not sure if you was told about a Star method when answering your questions. SITUATION TASK ACTION RESULT. if you stick to this method you shouldn't have a problem providing you give enough Infomation in what there looking for. Better luck next time mate and all the best.

Sorry to hear that pal. Don't know if you are aware there is a whole thread on here discussing the MMI. I know it won't make you feel better right now but it is a worth a read and may help you next time you get to that stage.

Yeh, I was aware this is the format they were looking for so tried to do this on each of my answers. The lady interviewing kept interrupting when I trying to set the situation, almost like she wanted me to skip to the end result, I found it a bit strange to be honest, she explained what she was looking for at the start, I stuck to this as well as I could but she kept interrupting when I was expanding my answers.
I was in the interview for nearly 2 hours, I gave as much detail as possible during the answers to the questions and tried to keep on topic. I think I've worked out what I probably failed on anyway.

Quick update just to keep everyone in the loop, I had my DMI a couple of weeks back which thankfully I passed, I’ve been offered the position as long as I pass the medical which is booked for the start of September!

I think I have been very very lucky to even get this far, but so far everything from DB (communication, attitude etc) has been first class and I could not fault it one bit.

Fingers crossed for everyone else out there waiting for a response, they do get back to you but they are extremely busy.

If anyone has any questions (within reason of course) let me know and I’ll do my best to answer them!

Well done fella! What depot did you go for? And how long was your wait from DMI to hearing that you got it?
