McDonalds in the Fishergate centre in Preston has a screen with departures.
It's not a pub, but it did surprise me

Not a pub, but a cafe at Parbold, Lancs, has, or used to have, this facility.
It used http://nr.tellan.co.uk/departure/PBL/kiosk/black?lookaheadtime=90Works

I put this into my browser for my local station but it's no longer working. I'm getting Error 404 "The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

Does anyone know what's happened?

G

It looks like their URL structure changed. This still works:

The Centurion on Newcastle station (which is in the magnificent former First Class waiting room) surprisingly doesn't appear to have any train information screens. Plenty of TV screens for showing football (unsurprisingly), but to get train details you have to step out onto the concourse. Unless there is one and I missed it.

The Railway pub across the road from Bromley Cross station has departure boards on the TV but they do mix it with other adverts for offers in the pub. Since reopening last year, on weekdays the pub opens at 6:30 as a waiting room selling coffee and sandwiches.

Good to see a pub that's multi-use! Pubs should make more use of early morning commuters, I imagine first thing sausage/bacon sandwiches would go down a treat, especially when "delayed 15 mins" appears on the screen!

I don't know if it is still there or not, but Wetherspoons The Knights Templar close to Briatol Temple Meads used to have one.

I think there's a departure screen in the Weatherspoons attached to Liverpool Lime street? Can't remember for sure though.

managed to co that for Bolton using http://javelin-webcis.co.uk/ although it's a white screen, how can I change it to blue? Thanks!

Also is there a way for this to show number of Carriages? "iris tiger" used to do so for Bolton and it was the most reliable system for this, far better than Journey Check, but now the link is broke (http://iris2.rail.co.uk/tiger/renderstaffsoad.asp?file=3031B2.xml) and I cant work out how to fix it.

Edit *Actually the website still works but Bolton has been removed from the list of stations available, hence the broken link.

Hi Chrisyd,

I've enabled train length as a detailed type option on Custom Board - https://live-departures.info/rail/custom/

When the system first went live there was only limited length information being published via the open data platforms so I kept the option hidden but there's a fair bit more coming through now (at time of writing approximately 30% of activated services are providing length data).

(if you just want to see train lengths on a personal device you can use the Darwin Console - https://live-departures.info/rail/dppc/Bolton/ - length where provided is shown in brackets next to the destination)

Wow thank you very much, that has everything I was looking for and more.

Continuing the Wetherspoons theme: The Last Post at Paisley Gilmour Street used to have one, but the screen is now always turned off.
Alston in Glasgow Central and The Willow at Greenock West have them.

Is that the one with the train running above the bar that I saw years ago? Think it's the Railway or the Station!
Edit; Open Street map suggests "The Station Hotel".

There used to be a train in the Whistle Stop Cafe - remember seeing that as a child when on our way to ASDA (the whole ground floor until the mid/late 1990s IIRC). Has that been moved to the pub?

The Railway next to Chorley used to keep their ale really well but it seems to have gone off the boil with them of late and still have hobgoblin on when they used to change them. Shame really.

There's a few McDonald's that have screens in them. One that springs to mind is Woking.

It does, I was in there a few days ago. Unfortunately it only shows 4 or 5 trains at a time and includes terminating services. This can mean a service not appearing on the board until close to its departure at busy times of the day.

Mr Bumble, two minutes from Blackwater station. It's in the Good Beer Guide.

The Nor Loch at Edinburgh Waverley has them.
The Nor Loch is now known as The Beer House. No idea if they still have the departure times, one would assume they still do.

Wetherspoons' owned, The Booking Office on the top of Waverley Bridge has them.

The North Western. I’m in here at the moment, all I can see is a large screen LCD showing BBC News.

Saperstein.

EDIT: There is one but it’s hidden away near the coffee machines in a dark corner at the end of the bar.

Very difficult to read though looks like the screen is on its last legs. (Looks a lot darker and faded by the naked eye).

Saperstein.
