Virgin delay repay query

I was hoping for some help in submitting a delay repay claim to Virgin trains.

I have completed the online form, and submitted. On submitting the form I get a response page saying that my submission was successful. However, I did not receive any form of automated email confirming my submission... so I have no proof that I actually made a claim.

Can anyone confirm if this is usual, or do you expect to receive an automated email and claim number as soon as you submit your form?

The claim is for quite a large sum (almost £150) so I would like to be sure I have it right.

Thanks for your help.

I had to submit one for the first time last Sunday, for delays on Thu 8th. The acknowledgement email came through on Monday morning.

Sheds.

This happened to me recently as well. I was concerned as previously an acknowledgement mail had been immediate.

However the claim did proceed as normal.

It would appear that they no longer respond immediately.

Same here, I submitted a claim recently and it took a couple of days before a confirmation came though. Just wait and don't worry yet. Keep hold of the tickets and your journey details though until they have paid out on your claim.

I would give it a few days (or say a week) before you follow it up with them to see if anything comes through.

Northern, LNER and Virgin both seem to have fairly flaky auto emails. Sometimes they’re almost instant, sometimes up to 48 hours. I’ve got in the habit of screenshotting the confirmation page and emailing it to myself just in case - I know it doesn’t show the specifics of the claim but it at least it demonstrates a claim was made

On my recent Delay Repay with Virgin, submitted using the on line form, the confirmation e-mail took several hours to arrive. But the rest of the process ran smoothly. A few days later I received an e-mail with an attachment of a letter confirming the pay out, and another few days the actual letter and cheque.
