So the website says every station to have a TVM. That's quite an investment!

All the East Midlands Trains logos on things such as the CCTV and penalty fare signs have been covered over, now who do I call if I want information on a the CCTV operator at my local station?

I noticed at Crewe station during ATOS Anne announcements for the EMR Derby service, they haven’t bothered to get Anne to re-record the new company name, so have just slotted in Acapela Rachel for the company name; it sounds awful, it’s like this

The train at Platform 2 is the 10:01 East Midlands Railway service to Derby

It's a temporary arrangement, ATOS Anne announces the full EMR at EMR stations

Which surprises me as I thought they could have mashed an announcement together using the "East Midlands" bit from "East Midlands Trains" and slotting in "Railway" from elsewhere. Surely she's said "railway" somewhere (looking keenly at West Midlands...)

It's how they announce Merseyrail trains at Chester, with TfW's regular announcer Ruth having 3 seconds-worth of Anne's "Merseyrail Electrics" spliced in.

At least it announced East Midlands Railway. The automatic announcement at Tutbury and Hatton thinks the company is just called 'M' which made me laugh. I did report this to the member of staff handing out the very nice cakes last night so hopefully that will be sorted soon.

Most passengers would want to hear 'the service to Derby". Who's running the service is immaterial, in most passengers minds.

:)

On the Meridian services in southern Germany they announce as "M nach Salzburg" etc - it does sound a bit odd! (It derives from the PIS on the FLIRTs announcing the train category as initials, e.g. RE rather than RegionalExpress, and for some reason Meridian operate under the prefix M rather than RB/RE).

Presumably this one is it trying to pronounce "EM" as a word?

When does EMR take over the Barton-on-Humber branch, and will a 153 be transferred to EMR to work it? Sorry if this is covered elsewhere.

So still to be effectively operated by TPE crews with a 185 and a Northern 153?
I understand the plan is still to use TPE Cleethorpes traincrew on the Barton Line until the DfT have made their final decision, which is likely to be December 2020. The existing rolling stock plan will stay in place until the December 2019 timetable change. After that point, nobody knows.
So people using the Barton Line have to put up with trains constantly cancelled for another year due to lack of staff...

I wonder, if it stays with Northern, what unit will operate it. The 153s are going. Perhaps a class 150. With the 185s becoming less intensively used in the coming months, I do wonder if from January the Barton Line will be fully operated by 185s. Completely overkill but would perhaps improve reliability and reduce stock movements. I suppose we await confirmation.
From December, I would say three possibilities:
1) 153s retained with a dispensation until December 2020
2) Hired in EMR 156s as per original plan. The unit plan for EMR will almost certainly allow for this, as this was the plan until DfT delayed the transfer. The traincrews still think they will soon be starting to learn 156s, though it could be that they haven't been told yet that it has been cancelled.
3) Something from Northern, possibly 150s. Would require crew training at Cleethorpes and Northern are short as it is.

I can't see 185s full time as they are unable to stop at Ulceby heading towards Barton and at New Clee in either direction. Also, they would fall foul of the PRM regulations as only the middle coach is used with the guard's local door being the only door in use. Thus their is no access to the wheelchair space or accessible toilet. At present on the early and late services, I understand that a taxi is sourced for wheelchair bound passengers traveling on the 185 operated serviced.

It isn't if their ticket is only valid on a specific service - how would someone at Derby going to Sheffield, for example, who had an XC Only ticket, be able to differentiate between an XC and an EMR service if the announcements and such didn't tell them that and thus not board the wrong service for their ticket? Most average passengers probably wouldn't be able to distinguish between EMR and XC services as well as us enthusiasts can, if at all. Considering EMR's new livery is similar to XC's (from the front at least) that would make it harder.

WMR new livery also features alot of purple also. Apart from the orange cab ends you cant really tell a huge amount of difference

Okay, so that got a bit messy there.

If anyone wants to talk about EMR's future rolling stock plans then you must use the existing thread which can be found here. If you want to talk about livery of the fleet (new and old) or branding then there is also a dedicated thread for that which can be found here. I also noticed we somehow ended up talking about CrossCountry's future fleet and whether they could use 222s or seemingly even 158s that is utterly off-topic and the majority of it should have been in the Speculative Ideas sub-forum. We already have a number of threads floating about looking at various different aspects of the rolling stock for the XC franchise. Use those threads as appropriate.

On a more general point if you have any posts to make about EMR which are along the lines of "I think that they should do xyz" then they should be posted in a new thread in Speculative Ideas not on this thread.

I hope that all makes sense.

Many thanks,

I dont see why EMR needs to have a separate website for its electric service? A dedicated platform at kings cross I understand but I don’t believe it’s necessary considering its only 1 service?

It's looking like Abellio want to offer an enhanced weekend First Class service. One can only assume this means using their own staff to serve First and having an at seat service thoughout the train, so no more weekend buffet.

Hopefully they can work on getting the TVM's at each station to actually work as well!

Found them to be very unreliable at stations that aren't staffed, which ironically is probably where they have their biggest value add. Not going to lie, as a member of Gen Z, I'm always happy to use things that let me reduce interactions with other people...

I'm a bit old for Bline now, but they should really add it to the TVMs, a lot of younger people get caught out not buying a ticket because that discount isn't available on the machines...

When the new EMR branding came out on Monday made me think of EMF.

I wouldn’t say they’re unbelievable yet...
