91101 is currently stabled on platform 2 at Doncaster, an unusual sight seeing one solo like this!

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
91101 likely to be heading South to Bounds Green this afternoon.

That is one of the three I require for haulage, along with 122 and 130.

According to the image of the sheet of paper at the open day at Crewe a few pages ago, 101 is down for being withdrawn in May 2020, with 122 in March 2020, but there was no mention of 130 at all.

Does anybody know when 130 is planned to be withdrawn, and if 101 and 122 are still to be withdrawn on the stated dates?

130 should be at some point next year.

The dates are still fluid to some degree, but as it stands the only ones to be taken out of traffic this year should be 108, 103, 117 & 120 (the exact order of the latter two is to be confirmed)

Obviously subject to change as circumstances dictate.

91101 has just pulled into Leeds and will be on the 15:45 south to London.

Thanks for that .. i dont suppose you know when/whether it is likely to see service again .. was going to go chasing it but its a good way from Stoke to the ECML for nothing ..

Cheers
WNXX has a photo of 03 in service at Edinburgh on Sat 17th Aug, so it looks like it might get a few more trips up and down the ECML before the axe falls.

Probably need as many as possible at the moment for the Edinburgh Fringe finishing next Monday, then when schools south of the border resume they'll restart withdrawals then.

Is this the 1st coach to be officially scrapped (apart from Hatfield and Potters Bar units)?

You mean Hatfield and Great Heck?!

I believe the answer would be yes, although I seem to recall two coaches were scrapped some time after the accidents, having been deemed repairable if necessary but in the end were surplus so it wasn’t done. Perhaps someone could confirm this?

A Mk4 coach (12455) has apparently been taken to CF Booths for scrap (not necessarily at Booths).
Was anything wrong with that particular coach? I can understand the owning ROSCO not seeing a future use for class 91s, as the DaFT have seen to it that inferior stock will take over almost everything the 91s would be suitable for. It seems madness to scrap mark 4s though unless it's just a few which have serious issues.

I hope preservationists are ready to take on 91110 and 91031.

There's plenty Mk4 Open Standards left for any future duties. I'm not sure if 12455 had any specific faults however.

Seems very premature to be scrapping mk4's, given that we're not exactly awash with spare, legislation compliant IC stock.

Did the second class 91 withdrawal happen, or is a revised date known, please?

You can only make as many rakes as you have TSOE vehicles, as they're the only ones with loco-compatible couplers. So unless you're going to make every rake nine carriages long (or start retrofitting couplers) you will have surplus carriages. TfW are taking three four-carriage rakes, so that's fifteen spares already.

From the look of the ones that have been hauled away, they've been well gutted for parts, and would be the least likely to be used in service again anyway.
