I would very much doubt it. They've tried to deny me access before now with a clearly marked VT Only ticket to Coventry on the grounds that "THAT'S LNWR!"

However, different person, different day. You never know your luck. They can only say no.

I would say I am 99% sure you will not be allowed in as I have tried a similar thing from Manchester, but there is always the chance they may let you in.
If you really want to use the lounge you could always buy a virgin only single to Runcorn which is not to expensive. I would say if you get that much back in snacks and drinks in the lounge it should be worth it as it is quite nice now they have the current lounge.

I've always been allowed in the Manchester lounge with a Virgin+connections ticket, using a Northern service to get to/from Preston to join the Virgin service. I guess it depends who's on the door that day. Definitely worth a try, it is a Virgin 1st class ticket after all.

I answered my own question yesterday.
I tweeted Virgin and they confirmed if I have a First Class Virgin Ticket , I can use the Lounge
(I have kept the tweet as evidence !)
