What if the reason why the train hadn't moved for 15 minutes was because the driver had passed out in the cab? (in the heat)

Then it would be `heroic mother of 2 saves train driver`

edit - although sounds like it wasn't 15 minutes and wasn't that hot :)
Even if the driver had passed out, "saving" him wouldn't have been her priority, from what I gather. She's the sort of person who to me seems like she'd still blame the driver. :)

She was definitely exaggerating.

She’s now got her self in some more bother, after a Facebook page (Idiot UK drivers) posted a picture from her social media. The picture is a photo she took, holding a McDonald’s coffee, whilst driving at 50-60mph!

Hopefully the police take some interest in her

Her Facebook profile shows she has two young sons and the worrying thing for me is - has she taken the steering wheel picture why her children have been travelling with her? Utterly irresponsible and driving like this is probably just as dangerous as drink driving.

As an ex-cop I would assume the police would probably not be able to prove any driving offences from the picture. Traffic offences are absolute and the majority of the time police officers need to catch culprits in the act. Unfortunately, in this case the picture would not be enough to pass the threshold test for a court summons.

Really? I'm interested in what needs to be proved that isn't in the picture. Surely it is irrefutable proof that she has committed a number of offences. Perhaps the seatbelt could be argued as a defective sensor, but the taking a photo can't be! (and the exif data from the photo will presumably show taken by a phone rather than by a camera, thus making it easier to prove than simply being a "distraction" )

I’ve heard of passengers hammering on cab doors before
Now but never breaking in...

How did she manage to get in to a 158* cab without a carriage key? There’s no emergency handle into the cab is there from within the saloon?

Saperstein.

*I assumed a 158 being Hucknall probably one of the Mansfield trains?

158 cab doors may as well just be there for effect unfortunately. Small children could quite comfortably force open a 158 door.

Slow news day for The Sun

Are they ever anything else!? I'm firmly on the drivers side but given the source it's safe to say this is probably 50% factual at best. They don't let a small thing like the truth get in the way of an "article" remember.......I would say journalism but once again look at the source.

Kind of disappointed that one of their items has actually made it to these boards.

She says in the interview posted by the Nottingham Post that she's not ashamed, but "the driver should be". What an idiot. It's not the driver's fault that her train has been held for a while!
Honestly. "I'm not a thug, I'm a just a normal mum-of-two." Well, maybe "thug" is too far, but "idiot" is! What on earth was she thinking? She forced her way into the driver's cab, which is a safety-critical area*, and proceeded to hurl verbal abuse at him! Poor driver. Hope this woman gets what she deserves.

Going to my copy of the Railway Byelaws, she can be charged with at least three offences:

Sod by-laws. This government used age old laws outside of railway by-laws to basically hang railway staff in recent times.

I'm sure if they wanna dig back far enough there's probably 101 ancient every day laws this horrible individual could be charged with.

Is she in the photo? I've not seen it, but from what's been said on here it is a photo taken from a driver's point of view, of a hand on a steering wheel holding a drink and showing the dashboard. That is only proof that somebody took the photo while driving - that she posted it to social media isn't proof that she took the photo?

I'm not sure there's anything left to add this tale. If there are any update regarding court action or similar feel free to report this post and the Forum Staff will look at an update but otherwise the thread is now locked.
