Some of us on here remember your glorification of Scottish Defeats (easy target admittedly) and various references to "sweaty socks" - just as well we have a sense of humour :E

I am happy to rub in how bad the Scotitsh national team is ( and how some fans of the likes of Celtic could do with a reality check) but is is no worse than the gloating that you jocks are happy to partake in when England fail. ;)

Did you ever go to St Mirrens old ground - Love Street ?

I think of of every time I get the 757 from Paisley Gilmour Street to Glasgow Airport which passes by where it was.

It's now a housing estate !!

Well, "Martin from Wakefield" didn't last too long did he?

Happy with the decision, anyone could see it wasn't working and when he threw a young team he'd selected under the bus on Tuesday night was the final straw for me.

The defeat tonight wasn't the issue, it was the complete failure to capitalise on an equaliser by going for the win. If we'd lost because we were caught on the break after an attack, I'd accept it. But we got back into the game and then sat back and let Fulham come at us which was only going to end one way. Fulham looked shaky in defence on the few occasions we ran at them, but we let them boss the game and lost with a whimper. Their winner was a damn good finish though.

The big question now is who will take over. Don't think Hughton would come, and don't want Sol Campbell because of both his political views and the fact that he'd bring a media circus with him.

I am not too unhappy that the sponser of the Northern Premier League will be BetVictor instead of Evo-Stik.

I just hope the opening season matches do not have the pitches badly affected by what seemed about 18 hours solid rainfall on Friday.
That postponed many games in the East of Scotland League’s opening games this season - first time I can ever remember postponements due to weather at the end of July.

BetVictor Northern Premier League

Hyde United 2 ... Basford United 3

Opening match of a new season with no shortage of goals. Basford are a much better side this season and far better than the last time these two sides met at Basford's ground when Hyde won 8-3, their biggest win last season.

It's a funny old game. Ha ha. I support Liverpool who are geographically the closest "professional" team to where I live but a mate of mine is a Tranmere fan and seems to have much more fun. Kept quiet in work last week about the Champions League as my boss is a Celtic fan .

Bradford famously modelled their green and white shirts on Celtic in the same way as Leeds and Juventus copied the colours of Real Madrid and Notts County. But annoyingly our powers-that-be have changed our colours back to red, amber and black to try attract a few Bradford Northern fans.
I've always thought the red, amber and black to be very stylish. My second-favourite club colours after claret, blue and white.

Bristol Manor Farm 3...Winchester City 3 (Bamford 8, 28, Tumelty 73, Durrant s/o 66; Mlambo 21, 80, Carr 76)

Winchester City's league campaign began at The Creek (right next to the Severn Beach line) against a side they'd lost all four meetings against. It looked like business as usual when Lewis Bamford gave the hosts the lead with eight minutes gone. Simba Mlambo latched onto a long ball and rounded the challenge of the keeper to level the scores, but Bamford scored again to give the hosts a half-time lead. Manor Farm were reduced to ten men midway through the second half when Jack Durrant picked up a second yellow card, but the hosts extended their lead with a free kick. However, Rob Carr drilled a low shot into the net to bring City back into the match, before Mlambo beat the home keeper in another one-on-one to level the scores with ten minutes to go.

Arsenal have had a decent start to the season and as an Arsenal Fan I am impressed with the team's start. Lacazette and Aubameyang are phenomenal players that we are lucky to have and Ceballos looks really good.

Sadio Mane is probably the best player in the Premier League at the minute and probably the 5th best attacker in the world after Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe and Griezmann.

Arsenal have made some good signings this summer, I reckon you should finish in the top four easily.

Personally, I think Mané is our most talented forward player and I think he'll end up being Liverpool's top scorer this season. His goal yesterday was outstanding.

I think we (Arsenal) will finish in the top 4 this season, especially with the way Chelsea are looking. Mane is one of my favorite players and I personally think he is better than Salah. I hope that if Arsenal don't win the league Liverpool do to stop City winning it again.

I have to agree. I really like Salah, but I think Mané is the better player. The way Mané carried our forward line during part of last season shows just how good he is, IMO.

If we can replicate last season's form in the league, I think we'll win it this season.

Great win for Darlo on Saturday winning 2 -0 at home against a Southport side who hadn't conceded prior to the game.

Northern Premier League will be BetVictor instead of Evo-Stik.

it hasn't been uniformly popular with many people commenting that betting/gambling is something of a scourge on football at present.

Round of applause Newcastle you utter shower...

It is going to be a long season for the Mags.

You could take the Motherwell approach and be sponsored by a betting company but not have their name on the shirt. Ironically Betfred still got coverage as everyone was talking about why Motherwell have no sponsor on their strip.

It's PaddyPower, and they did it more dramatically the week before with Huddersfield.

Winchester City 2...AFC Totton 1 (Mlambo 43, 85; Beale 66) Attendance: 206

Winchester City take the points in the first local derby of the season. They dominated the first half and were denied a stonewall penalty when a Totton defender handled the ball in the area before Simba Mlambo broke from defence and fired the ball past Archie Matthews (who had kept City from opening up an unassailable lead). Totton came back in the second half and got an equaliser on the break, but with five minutes left a cross from Danny King was met by a powerful header from Mlambo to seal the win.

BetVictor Northern Premier League

FC United of Manchester 1 ... Hyde United 2

In this mid-week match, Hyde seemed to overcome the hiccup of the match at home last weekend, with a win away at the side who were relegated to this league at the end of last season.

If you're a football fan you might want to take a minute to add your support to Bury FC. Proper good old footy club. I'm a PNE fan. Please sign this online petition here... http://chng.it/2XWj6JV9tn

Did I hear correctly that the owner of Bury FC, with just a couple of days to go to the deadline day, had turned down the offer for the club in the hope of receiving a better one?

He's turned down more than that. Today the club faces expulsion and he has asked fans and local businesses to give him £2.7m before the end of today and he will walk away, despite putting little into the club and not paying wages for months on end. He's basically just holding a town ransom and doesn't give a toss if they fold.

It's only a week ago he argued with a player on live radio saying that he had all the funds necessary to meet club requirements and would prove it. He stated that he would make everyone saying they would go under today look silly. He hasn't got any funds, or at least nothing for the club.
