It does042 with 105 on E to G circuit today. Does that make 64?
Forgot Shotts wasn't every half-hourly, will this affect other services then or only Shotts?
Just from Glasgow though. They’re half-hourly from Edinburgh (25&55ish).Well it's is twice-hourly, but the calling pattern means it's not at half-hourly intervals.
Any idea which diagram is still DMU?

I’ve got no issue with the current timetabling. I don’t know the ins and outs of everything on the railways but I’ve never understood why clockface timetables are preferred. Is it just to be aesthetically pleasing? I think most passengers couldn’t really care if their hourly train left at XX.03 one hour and then XX.05 the next - they just don’t want 90 minute gaps and then 30 minute gaps in timetables (e.g. 10.05, 11.34, 12.03 etc - they’d prefer 10.05, 11.03, 12.04 etc).Only Edinburgh really, they start spreading out to unequal intervals as you get further from Edinburgh.
The only way to make it even intervals throughout would be to either make them both all stops (unlikely and rather slow) or spread the lesser stops between the two services.
The 385s could probably manage the latter option in not too much longer than the present fast service.
385043 noted outside the test shed at Aycliffe this morning with the delivery panel fitted so should be the next to move north.
That would be some speculation tbh. The factory there is well established with a full order book and one of those returned from Italy - 385102 - is in Scotland already. More likely that the deliveries are being staggered to ensure a steady introduction and the removal of the remaining 314's imho. No rush as two of the longer platforms at Queen Street aren't scheduled to be done until October and the timetable change isn't until December.Interesting.
The previous expectation seemed to be that 385102 would be next to head north and 385001/002 would be ahead of 385043/044.
Combined with the slow down in deliveries you might speculate that some of the work done in Italy isn't quite up to scratch and more remedial work is needed on the four units that have come back from Italy? We'll see in due course I guess.
Am I correct that in the past the Edinburgh to Stirling services were normally just a single 158, so a 385/1 might be adequate?
I had the (declassified) First Class compartment to myself on a Queen Street to Edinburgh via Falkirk Grahamston the other day. There's not such a huge difference really (a socket each and 2+1 seating is about it) and I don't fancy the airline seat next to the door as in the rather blurred photo below.

It was either this thread or the HST one but somebody said that when Scotrail do things well, they do them very well - I think your experience is exactly what they meant.I’ve finally taken a peak (ish) 385 through to Edinburgh today. Overall I’m very impressed now with the service these 385s offer. Acceleration out of Queen Street was far stronger than I was expecting (certainly makes a change since I mostly get a 385 around the Cathcart circle these days), catering trolley going up and down the aisles. Train full of happy punters for the festival. I thought it made a very good advert for Scotrail. Queen Street is coming along leaps and bounds too, the new canopy already makes the station feel so much bigger and “proper”. And the off peak price for a return is very reasonable. Thumbs up from me!

I thought they may have delivered the remaining 4, 3 car sets in pairs to save time/more trips.
Does anyone know if the recently introduced 385's have replaced any of the 318/320 units on Lanark or Inverclyde or are they just providing extra capacity while the Edinburgh Fringe is still on?
I'm pretty sure it didn't take this long to deliver the Class 380s when new and they had to be delivered all the way from Germany yet it's taking months to send one unit at a time from Newcastle. The 385 deliveries have been a shambles from start to finish.
I would agree , vinyl best for flooring in the main
No idea what causes the black marks but they are all over the floors , as in 170. Liquid spill of some sort , black coffee?
For sure the conduct of passengers is the cause , but it should not be assumed its not Scotrail at fault . You can challenge bad behaviour and call it out . Announcement to remind not to leave litter . 385 give out plenty of trivial messages , litter should be one. I would name and shame with cc footage some offenders . Word would spread!
But Scotrail cleaning is at fault . Its mainly picking up what is left on tables , and emptying the overly small poorly designed snappy flap bins. Sadly the public push litter between the seats and bulkheads, under seats . The seats need hoovered as does between the seat cushions .
The 385s were on Lanark before the Fringe, not sure about Inverclyde but Lanark had 385s since May. There is still one class 320/318 on the Lanark services.Does anyone know if the recently introduced 385's have replaced any of the 318/320 units on Lanark or Inverclyde or are they just providing extra capacity while the Edinburgh Fringe is still on?
Correct me if I’m wrong but what I think @NorthClyde320 was asking was how many of the 7 units that have been delivered since the May timetable change are now in revenue earning service? The 385s were on Lanark before the Fringe, not sure about Inverclyde but Lanark had 385s since May. Not the case. A phased successful introduction combined with the withdrawal of the 314's. No rush to have them before they're needed. The whole rollout and improvements elsewhere are all on schedule. EGIP is a hugely successful project.I'm pretty sure it didn't take this long to deliver the Class 380s when new and they had to be delivered all the way from Germany yet it's taking months to send one unit at a time from Newcastle.
