I can remember around six or seven years ago seeing a job advert for a conductor at Taunton. Have GWR moved the coductor booking on station away from Taunton in recent years?
I believe so - nearest at Bristol, Exeter and Westbury

A bit of a random question this one, but the LNER HST's that go to Aberdeen/Inverness overnight, are these Drivers on lodge turns or do they taxi back? I hope this is the right place to ask!
Thanks.

They’re on lodge turns. Inverness is also a lodge turn for guards

Although by rights it's not part of WMT train crew. But shouldn't Stourbridge Junction appear under a driver depot being as both Drivers and Guards are based there for the Stourbridge Town work.
You’re right that it’s nothing to do with WMT other than branding. It’s Pre Metro Operations Ltd, so not a TOC strictly speaking. As for the town car crew, whilst one acts as driver and the other as guard, they all do both roles so can’t really be defined as drivers. WMR only gave guards at Stourbridge.

Kings Cross to Newcastle
Hertford loop
Peterborough - Doncaster via Lincoln (including via Doncaster decoy)
Lincoln - Newark
Doncaster - Leeds, pretty much all ways
Leeds - York via Micklefield including Neville Hill depot
Doncaster - Hull via Selby & Goole
Think that’s it

Does anyone know which ones of these TOC’s are currently recruiting trainees?
I’ll be looking into each of them shortly but to save time if anyone know of any from top of their head then please mention. Thanks
I don't think there is an up-to-date comprehensive list; so I'm going to quite simply spew out all the ones I know; and if anyone has any additions/corrections; please feel free to add them; for drivers and guards (If a new depot is planned; I won't add it on here until it's confirmed as definitely opening)

Interesting. I’m sure the same debate about them not being on HSS salary will happen.

Gloucester drivers have had regular IET work for a fair while. They had regular HST work before that.

Bristol Ex West (now GWR Drivers) have booked IET work from December too. Training starts next week with 12 drivers learning them, as well as the road as far as Reading.

Hopefully harmonisation will prevent any issues in the guard side of things about who gets work.

By the way, Peckham Rye closed as an OBS depot for Southern several months ago with the (small number) of OBSs transferred to Victoria.

Just a quick one.... with the “harmonisation” that’s going on in GWR at the moment, if a qualified driver applied for one of the vacancies they’re advertising at the moment and was put on the new GWR driver contract; would that driver sign all routes that their depot covers, or is it still link work? Many thanks

That depends on depot. Some have separate HSS and GWR links, some have just the one contract at the depot (of those, some have different links under the same contract, some have just the one link)

Thanks a lot, do you know what the situation is at Bristol?
I believe there are HSS and GWR drivers at Bristol. No new entrants into HSS, as they retire more of their work will move to GWR links. As to the current state of play I’m not sure.

Hi all,

I've had a quick mooch through the thread and couldn't see this answered anywhere:

Does anyone know the routes that WMT drivers sign from Snow Hill and New Street depots respectively?

Also how does the WMR/LNWR split work, is it a case of working a bit of both or are you assigned to one or t'other?
