Perhaps it is this incident, which occurred at Falkirk Grahamston, but disrupted services between Edinburgh and Stirling.

Falkirk Grahamston Railway Station has been cordoned off following reports of a man being seen with a knife.

Police were called to the station at 08:50, with officers placed at entrance points.

The station is in lockdown and specialist officers are speaking to the man in a bid to resolve the stand-off.

Scotrail said services between Edinburgh to Glasgow via Cumbernauld and Edinburgh to Dunblane are currently affected.

Disruption between Edinburgh and Croy and Stirling is expected until 14:00.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Falkirk responded to Meeks Road at around 8.50 following report of concern for the wellbeing of a man.

"Local and specialist officers remain in attendance to engage with the man and ensure this incident is resolved safely."

It just so happens I was on board the Chieftain when this happened - we waited at Stirling for around 1.5-2 hours while the line was blocked, which cancelled every other train to Edinburgh. When it was cleared we had to pass through Falkirk Grahamston at about 10mph without stopping, then at Edinburgh (got their at 13:20, 2 hours late) what appeared to happen was the Chieftain was "cancelled", but took on the identity of the 13:30 EDB-KGX to carry onto London. While this meant it had its own path so the run was clear (bar a brief backlog near Hitchin), all the 13:30's reservations were wiped and in 1st class where I was, there were a number of passengers who spent at least some of their trip with no seat (and similar in standard I suspect, albeit in 1st the fact they paid more might make them grumpier). An interesting experience though (and a full delay repay).

Lucky you weren't a few hours later leaving Edinburgh otherwise you'd also have got caught up in the concern for welfare man on a viaduct near Durham which blocked both lines, meaning the 1300 kgx to edb was 104 minutes late arriving in edb.
