I'm only guessing, but I'd say they are out of replacement blue covers. Don't know why they were so keen to replace them, though, given the state of some of the other bases they never bothered. Did anyone bleed to death on that unit? Particularly bad vomit on a last train? :D
350, 1st class, 0730 last week. Talking of blood...

Shame they haven't gone for leather on the headrests, but I really like the look of that.

Anyone spot the "deliberate mistake" on the PIS screen? :D

Slightly surprised the blue hasn't been removed in favour of grey or green, though.

finally 350/115 is the first unit to return

No full LNR livery as presumed which is disappointing also no new stickers either. The panels by the doors are also still bright blue which looks ugly against the new refurb

Just hope that these are worked on before the other 2 return

Its not amazing but its a nice job

I wonder if it's a half job and will go back in for those? The /2s and /3s have grey panels by the doors which don't clash with the green so badly. I suspect it's quite an easy swap.

TBH though they don't need much more than a decent deep clean and new foams/covers (plus "under the solebar" type work e.g. corrosion). They have worn very well from a passenger perspective. Certainly nothing to be gained by replacing seats etc, though I suppose a bit of TPE 185-style "fake wood" would be nice!

Lets hope 106 and 123 are not far behind from coming back

Considering 106 is now officially the first and right now the only 350/1 unit with full LNR livery

The most disappointing (cheap) feature by far is the removal of the Guards office not resulting in any additional seats. They’ve just plonked a luggage rack in instead.

That seems a good idea, not a bad idea. There is inadequate luggage space on the longer runs, and the 350/1s will mostly be used on the Crewes once the Aventras show up.

To be quite honest that will free up more than 4 Seats and save all sorts of arguments

It’s only good for the 1/8th of people who might board at that door. Agree more room for luggage is needed, but it needs proper provision throughout the train rather than what has been provided. Like the Voyager ex shop, great for about 10 people and really a poor use of space overall.

Have heard that apparently 350115 the refurbished set is now fitted with a system where the PIS displays coach numbers for each coach on internal PIS screens. Such as 'coach 1 of 8' 'coach 2 of 8' etc, and apparently if a station has a short platform, the system will instruct passengers in the rear coaches to move forwards through the train , a la South Western Railway 444s.

Have they fitted ASDO, or is this just an add-on to the existing UDS setup?

No way of verifying but apparently auto SDO is not fitted. Existing setup but announcements and displays will show where passengers are within the train.

As long as the current PIS system continues to work alongside the new one. Then its all good

The non-refurbished sets have had this for a while, haven't they?

No, the only announcement on a non-refurb set would be when the guard activates the unit de select switch there will be an announcement in the rear 4 coaches to 'move forward from this part of the train'
