I feel like I have a theory as to why trains are taking so long to test/introduce...
Apparently one of the issues in regards to budgets/delays with the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter was that the planes were being produced at scale before really being fully tested, leading to them having to go back and make costly/difficult/time consuming changes to large numbers of planes rather than adjuating one prototype before going into production...
I wonder whether the same concept applies to new fleets, especially this one as it was needed in service quickly, that they started producing the full fleet before ironing out the kinks in a prototype before producing sets that were less likely to have issues?
Especially in regards to DVTs as they have to interface with another locomotive!
Have these been announced as Nova services at the station or on board (similar to LNER announcing them theirs as Azuma services)
Wow this all feels slightly anticlimactic. We’ve followed this forum for years and then they’re introduced without much fanfare which is a shame
Looking at national Rail online - interesting it announced it as platform 15B rather than 15 which would be the case for double 185sIt was announced as a 5 car at Leeds, and the punters certainly noticed the difference between this and the 185s. Needed a 5 car too given the loading.

1st class passengers can enjoy the CAT sounds best. Brilliant they have now finally hit the rails full of passengers. For those claiming ‘you won’t hear the loco from the train’, I’d recommend you have a hearing test I’m partially deaf even I could hear 27 away from Vic!

I thought that the point of LHCS was that you didn't have any annoying engine noise?!1st class passengers can enjoy the CAT sounds best. Brilliant they have now finally hit the rails full of passengers.

First Class you can here the engine reasonably well, especially leaving LIV, MCV, and LDS plus through the tunnels. Standard in coach D you can still here a bit. C,B and A all perfectly silent.I thought that the point of LHCS was that you didn't have any annoying engine noise?!
Indeed notDon't think many will call the scream of the CAT annoying!
And definitely not a disappointment today eitherThats meant to happen Monday
Pretty empty at 05:55, a fair few on at LIV, MCV a big pick up point, pretty full from Huddersfield. So how is 68027 performing and what has the loadings been like upto now this morning?, and i don't just meen all the cranks!

On the way back from SCA, a 185 would have been swamped but the Nova 3 had a few seats to spare (York races). I bailed at York having traveled through the night to get to Manchester
68 was fantastic, acceleration very impressive, completely takes the hills in its stride
People will be rose tinted about these new trains just because they have a loco on one end but I'm unimpressed. Air con ineffective, window alignment one of the worst I've come across and barely any airline seats.

Yes, the seating arrangement is quite odd relative to the positioning of the windows - boarding a pretty empty train this morning it did seem that almost all of the table bays had fairly wide blank panels in their middle. It seems that positioning some face to back seats in between the table bays could resolve this. Certainly worse than a 185 for this.
There are more face to back seats in the driving trailer than the intermediate coaches.
The air conditioning all seems to be at the window with no roof mounted airflow. Time will tell whether this is effective.
Subject to the window point I think it is an interesting development - it would be interesting to know how fuel consumption differs from a 6-185 formation. I'm not sure that 6-185 is any worse to travel on than 68+Mk5.
