See, no need to worry! Australia now only three wickets away and this will probably be over this session.

Now, even with the unforgivable 1st innings collapse, if we'd managed to hang onto our catches this might be very interesting as we'd probably only be around 50 or so away (of course without a collapse we'd probably have won by now!).

This is exhilarating. We just need 8 to win. COME ON LADS!

*EDIT* OMFG Stokes hits a 6!!!!! 2 To win?

*EDIT number 2* That was the most amazing experience listening on BBC Radio 5 Live. I'm not really a cricket fan but was engrossed today. Nice one lads! Bring on the next test.

Who else scared their pets by whooping and hollering?

Who else swore in delight?

I did both!

An unbelievable test match. I wonder who will be man of the match? :p

It's Sunday afternoon, it's Stokes and Archer, how can England possibly better their World Cup Final performance? You know what..... they just did. I saw virtually all of the latter stages of the 1981 Headingley test (''Botham's Test'') and I'd put today's performance ahead of that, even. What character Jack Leach showed too. '' Arise Sir Ben Stokes'' can't be too far away!

Absolutely never in doubt.

Game plan worked to perfection. 1st innings pretend to be absolutely incompetent and then suck the Aussies into a false sense of security then wham. Second inning was also well played. Sterted well, bit of a colapse in the middle then the tail easily saw the game through

Genius.

The crazy thing is that this might be only the second best game this summer!

If I wasn't a moderator and supposed to be setting an example to you lot a large expanse of my post would be expletive ridden and starred out assorted random words.

That was sport at its best. Well done boys.

P.S. Just the 300 to get now - easy peasy, ask Mark Butcher.
When I wrote that, I didn't for one minute imagine it happening. But it is the Headingley 4th innings effect: I've just been reading Vic Marks in the Observer (i.e.written yesterday) and he pointed out not only Butcher, but Bradman and co in 1948, Shai Hope last year. It's the one English test ground which often doesn't suit the spinners late on.

P.S. The only comparable match I can remember is when the genius that was Brian Lara got 160 odd (from memory) not out and they too won by one wicket.

I'm scrambling around google looking for the commentary from the BBC. Can anybody point me to a link please? I need to listen again. I normally record all my radio on my DAB radio but unfortunately my SD card was full.

Bell's been injured for some time: if you want a Warwickshire batsman Sibley as opener has got to be worth a try.

Maybe swap Denny and Roy.

Denly to open, Roy at 5? After Root 3, Stokes 4.

Anderson to be fit. Replacing Wokes? Unless it’s not expected to spin, then Leach out possibly.

It's Old Trafford, it will spin like a top!
