Nothing on the National Rail app, also when asked today no XC controllers knew anything about them.

It's all in Realtime Trains now, but they won't appear on National Rail unless someone adds them in manually, as they show as "Unadvertised Express". They are shown as being operated by WCRC, so there's no need for XC Controllers to get involved with them.

They are to assist LNER passengers in their travels due to the closure of the East Coast Main Line. They will facilitate them in connecting to use other TOCs

Pretty much perfectly plugging some of the gaps in the drastically thinned out XC service...

Cheers for that. In the end they only ran York to Sheffield then ECS to Chesterfield to return. Due to being advertised as charters the only people travelling on them were enthusiasts or rail staff in the know. Shame.

I bet the ECS move upset some enthusiasts who were hoping to stay on the set all day long. Bit like a few years ago when Northern had loco hauled extras on the Bolton line, where they would terminate at say Chorley before running ECS to Preston before working a semifast back towards Manchester

That's me jumping to conclusions, as the KX shutdown coinsided with the industrial action on XC!!☺

The 13:20 from Sheffield was shown as a normal service on the station screens and departed with around 150 passengers on board, rising to nearly 200 from Wakefield into Leeds. Railway enthusiasts were only a small part of that. This train, at least, was a very successful people mover. I can't vouch for the others, although I do know there were conflicting messages on the station screens at York, due to the background data in the system.

No worries! It could have been a right mess with the industrial action, combined with the engineering alterations, but I feel these trains helped get people shifted, although very little was known about them beforehand.
