I'd be very surprised if the Olympian had been used. Apart from special heritage services there's rightly an expectation that all buses are accessible.
I do, of course, agree with you, but I do ponder about the application on an explicitly open top service. For instance, much as I'd love to travel open top on a nice day, the reality for me and a lot of others is that we can no longer climb stairs to the upper deck. I'll amend that slightly, I'd have a go at ascending and descending the stairs if the bus was guaranteed to remain static, so might risk it at Penzance and St Ives termini, but many could not even do that.

Is that 10 just for the A1-3 loop? Is the A4 also supposed to be open top (for the short ones)?

Just looks like there’s very little slack if any so a late arriving 37058 and the regular servicing means there’s a shortage. Add a few breakdowns (these are 17 year old vehicles) and maybe that’s the reason?

Just asking - don’t wish to be accused of pursuing an anti Carter/Morgan-Huws agenda :D

The A4 isn’t advertised in the timetable as being open top

I’m guessing the PVR on the A1/2/3 is about 9

Not all A1s are advertised as open top either, so that could be minus 1 on the figure above.

On the A4, the long ones (to/from Porth to St Ives) are closed top. However, I thought I'd read that the shorter ones might be open topped? Perhaps I dreamt it....

Certainly, in 2017, me and my better half had a delayed run from PZ to Sennen because of a late substitution because of rain so we got an AC Trident. After nearly two hours, we went to continue the journey to St Ives and O/T operation had been restored.

That's incorrect. The A1 is advertised as all open top in the Summer. There are no individual journeys shown as closed top.

PVR is 10 this year because an extra bus is in the cycle for reliability, creating long layovers at Penzance.

The only A4 scheduled for open top this year are the 0918 Gwithian to St Ives and 1820 St Ives to Gwitian that operate in the shoulder season (i.e Tuesday 28 May 2019 to Friday 5 July 2019 inclusive and from Monday 2 September 2019) when they form/come off the shortened A2 services from Penzance.

Sorry, I was looking at last year's timetable.

32103 broken down in Marazion By-Pass lay-by at 1 p.m. minus passengers and driver: still there 2 p.m. with fitters' van in attendance. A few minutes later, what appeared to be the top of a Barbie-liveried Trident was seen by me as I passed the side of Mount's Bay Coaches depot; I tried to slow down but had maniac driver on my tail, so unable to ascertain.

(not my photo) 37729 is headed off to Thorntons for a refurb, roof's getting fixed and it's joining the atlantic coaster side of the fleet!

Although there seems to be some debate on Facebook as to whether or not it's now remaining at Leeds.

That's the one that then goes on to the A17 for the rest of the day. It used to be a Solo SR before they moved to Camborne.
Thought it must of been some sort of booked working as it was a Tinner yesterday as well

Trident 33112 on PR1 duties today

Doing a lot better with open tops on the A1/2/3 today. There's eight out there in service. Still no sign of 37058 though.

37058 was in the workshops at Camborne early this month but for the last week or so it has been parked outside.

Was confused on the way home from work and passed 33316 by Truro College on a PR1 service to Langarth and never saw 33112, now I know why!

Given that there's only a couple of weeks of the full timetable left, may as well just store it for the Winter now.

Oh dear! Another casualty on the A2 today. At 3.30 p.m. I passed an unidentified open topper the 'wrong way round' in the Crowlas southbound bus stop with its back hitched up to a recovery truck. At 3.50ish it was at Hayle Loggans roundabout making its slow way up the A30 to, presumably, Camborne depot.

Hello all you knowledgeable Kernow folk. I'm planning a visit from Bristol to Truro on Thurs October 3rd (haven't been to the city since VR bashing! Cannot believe it!). I'm just wondering where the best place is to stand for the swarm heading into Truro College ready for the afternoon chuck-out, and at what time? Might fit in a bit of Helston area the next day, for Lizards.
Would be very grateful of any advice. Many thanks.

Can't tell you the best time, but I'd think the best place would be from the retail park situated between the College roundabout and the Treliske Hospital roundabout, At the western end of the retail park is a Costa, with seats outside all year round, slightly raised from the dual carriageway right next to it from which you can spot to your heart's content.

Noticed on FB the other day that Marc Huws has stated that fleet movements, repaints and refurbishments will be pretty much frozen now until Cornwall Council announces the tender results for the supported bus network.

If you go in the morning I would arrive no later than 0830 and as already stated position yourself by the roundabout on the main road. Alternatively follow the route down to the college, turn left at the next roundabout and wait by the shop. All buses pass this on the way into the college however there are two separate exits.

For the afternoon buses start arriving empty from 1500 onwards with the busiest spell from 1545 until an hour or so later. Most services start leaving at around 1630.

If you are interested in some of the local independent operators pop down the road to Richard Lander school. Services depart here around 1500-1530 and are mainly Hopleys and Wheal Briton.

Hope that helps.

Between the roundabout and the Penzance bound bus stop/The Range store are the best place to see all the college buses, as some head in the Threemilestone direction and others towards Truro, or any where in the college grounds by the shop or the mini roundabout are the best places. Yeah, between 08:30-09:30 and 15:00-16:30 are the good times to see the convoy of college services

When will these be announced?
