Unclear. However the administrators must not continue to operate an insolvent company and have a legal duty to prevent further losses. Things have only got this far because a consortium trying to buy the club ( Football Ventures?) have injected funding. If that stops so does the club.

Nice to finally see one good ending to a long-running Division 1 saga and one can only hope the points deduction can soon be whittled away. What is the state of affairs concerning experienced players still on the books of the club?

BetVictor Northern Premier League

Hyde United 3 ... Buxton 1

Buxton have not had a good start to this season and were rewarded with a goal in the 17th minute, but Hyde scored two goals before half-time, then converted a penalty in the 75th minute. This win takes Hyde to third in the league.

Just seen the draw for the FA Cup first round qualifying.....Hyde have been drawn away to the winners of the Brighouse Town and Morpeth Town match.

Garlic bread will be served instead of pies at half time!

Well I’m off to Ormiston v Sauchie Juniors this afternoon in the Alex Jack Cup 2nd round - it’ll be a tough game for Ormiston but anything is possible. The referee though is one of the instructors at the referee course I’m going to on Monday nights just now. It could be interesting on Monday if he asks us if we’ve seen any interesting refereeing decisions over the weekend - I’ll restrain myself from criticising every decision :D.

As an Arsenal fan I am very nervous for the North London Derby tommorow but after seeing the performances of Manchester United and Chelsea today I am confident Arsenal will make top 4.

I think it will be a battle between Arsenal and Spurs as to who finished third.

Liverpool and Manchester City are miles ahead of everybody else.

Honestly Man City's team might be one of the best teams I've ever seen and Liverpool's not far behind.

Hyde United 4 ... Stafford Rangers 0

Stafford, despite their lowly league position, defended well in the first half and it was goal-less at half-time, but Hyde's pressure told eventually with four second half goals. This win takes Hyde up to second position in the league.

AFC Stoneham 1...Winchester City 3 (Palmer 65; Bailey 13, Barron 45+2, Griggs 90+1, Carr s/o 1)

Winchester City will host Taunton in the 1st qualifying round of the FA Cup after beating Stoneham in a replay. Despite having to play virtually the whole game with ten men (even the home players said it was never a red card) City took the lead when Ollie Bailey rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into an open net, before Jamie Barron doubled the lead from the edge of the box just before half time. The hosts scrambled the ball over the line in the second half to set up a nervy last 25 minutes, but the result was sealed in stoppage time when Ollie Griggs connected with a pass and converted.

Other Results:

FA Cup Replay:

Burnham 1...Slimbridge 1 (Burnham win 5-4 on penalties)

Exmouth Town 2...Yate Town 0

Southern League Division 1 South:

AFC Totton 1...Willand Rovers 0

Basingstoke Town 0...Larkhall Athletic 2

Bideford 1...Paulton Rovers 2

Cinderford Town 2...Barnstaple Town 0

Frome Town 1...Evesham United 1

Thatcham Town 3...Cirencester Town 0

Wednesday:

Highworth Town 1...Sholing 0

Bit of a thumping for Gibraltar at home to Denmark tonight, 6 - 0 last time I looked. Full house though, and hopefully the stadium will eventually be redeveloped into just a football ground shortly so capacity will be greater. The hockey pitch is next door, the touchline bring five yards from the runway!

While the European Championship Qualifying tournament is currently in full swing, I notice than countries such as Israel (who to the best of my knowledge are not part of Europe) are allowed to participate in it. Is this following the same strange geographical logic that applies to the Eurovision Song Contest?

Israel was part of the Asian confederation until 1974 when they were expelled as various other countries refused to play against them. I suspect some of the North African countries would raise similar issues if they’d tried that confederation. Europe is close and somewhat of a cultural fit.

Can we expel Spain as they refuse to play against Gibraltar? Interesting to note that the Spanish island of Menorca did participate in this years Island Games held in Gibraltar. So they've no issues...

Manchester City Women 1 ... Manchester United Women 0

This match was played at the Etihad Stadium and had an attendance of 31,213. This was many times higher than the previous highest attendance figure of 5,265 in this league. Manchester City scored the only goal of the game three minutes after half-time.
