Does any one the diagrams they work on leeds Doncaster and Leeds Sheffield

Haven't been seen on Leeds-Doncaster for a few months, and they've never been seen on Leeds-Sheffield.

The diagrams are Leeds, Harrogate and York, and Sheffield, Hull and Bridlington. You get some moving between those on Hull to York workings. There are no others as far as I know.

The York-Harrogate-Leeds is 98% 170 operated, the only exceptions being a few services at the start and end of the day, such as the 0605 Leeds-York (3 car 158), 1749 Leeds-York (2x142), 0713 Harrogate-Leeds (150), 1742 York-Leeds (155) and possibly a 158 late at night - off the top of my head anyway

The Sheffield - Bridlington service is fully Class 170 operated but the Sheffield - Hull trains currently are class 142s.

Class 170s also work locals out of Hull towards Bridlington and Scarborough.

The other class 170s work the Leeds - York service as mentioned upthread.

The 170s will definitely continue to operate on the Yorkshire Coast line from December as Northernc Connect. Sheffield to Bridlington are extended to Scarborough (Or the other hourly service between Hull and Bridlington is switched).

Will the 170s ever go on the Leeds to Southport service as originally intended or not? What about other services like Manchester to Clitheroe, Buxton and/or Sheffield or Leeds to Carlisle and Lancaster?

170s staying East for the foreseeable future.

Leeds to Southport turning to Leeds to Wigan from December. Expect to see more 158s on that route

Sheffield to Bridlington is not fully 170 operated. They do on occasion (probably once a week at least) put a 158 on it or even a 144.

In theory, Bridlington-Sheffield should always run with a 170, but it's by no means guaranteed. Come December, this will become Scarborough-Sheffield, and the Bridlington-York service will likely see 155/158s.

There's a 2030 from Hull to Leeds service which is also due a 170.

On the plus side, it'll be great for visiting Hull (for the sake of visiting every city in the UK) and Knaresborough (one of the most picturesque towns in England), perfect for a 170 bash! Sheffield to Hull and Leeds to Knaresborough are routes I'm interested in riding now that 170s traverse those lines frequently! To visit Hull from Manchester, is it cheaper to go via Sheffield or the faster way via Leeds? Of course, I'd be splitting my ticket at Sheffield or Leeds either way!

Thanks for the info! Remind me to take the semi-fast Bridlington service over the stopper if I travel from Sheffield to Hull!

Hull-Sheffield and Hull-Leeds Off Peak Returns are the same price. It depends on how much Manchester-Leeds and Manchester-Sheffield is for you.

Know any Northern staff that'll be able to sell me one of them £7 tickets that'd allow unlimited travel on all Northern services for the day? Might feel ripped off buying off-peak returns and later realising I could've gotten a Northern day ranger instead! Really wanna bash them 170s after all but need a more convenient way of doing so!

I’m looking forward to a comfortable journey to Scarborough from Beverley in a 170 from the December timetable change. It will make a change from the big mix of units on it currently with 158’s seen on it today, including 158860 and 158817. No 170’s seen in use today.

I noticed they are now working to Halifax via Bradford Interchange on the Hull trains. Nice contrast to the CAF units

Yes, it is the Halifax service in addition to the Sheffield to Scarborough and York to Harrogate and Leeds services. Like you say they are a good contrast to a 195 or 331, with no door problems etc.

And a decent quality ride !

Nice trains, good to see them visit Bradford and Halifax now after 30 years of crappy buses on rails.

Saw my first 170 doing a trip from Bradford to Halifax earlier this evening. Pacers are now a very rare sight (thankfully).

Thankfully contrary to rumours before timetable change 170s are working the Scarboro to Sheffield services. Worry atm is that they have very tight turnaround times at both ends. Far superior to 158s that used to dominate on the route. Some do work to Halifax but dont know diagrams.

Was on the 13.35 Beverley to Scarborough yesterday, which was 170454, and back to Beverley on the 16.00 comprised of 170477. Both, as always, quick, comfortable, and punctual. These services are definitely one of Northern’s best. I actually was able to nap on both of them..;)

Yes we have been very lucky on the Scarboro to Hull line compared to the rest of the Northern network!

I will be taking the following soon:

10:59 Leeds to Harrogate tomorrow
12:16 Harrogate to Leeds tomorrow

09:54 Leeds to Hull on 05 February
14:15 Hull to Leeds on 05 February

Are any of the above booked for 170s, being perfectly aware that stock can change on the day?

The two Harrogate diagrams were on 18 January, however I have just realised that the 09:54 Leeds to Hull originates in Halifax and the 14:15 Hull to Leeds continues on to Halifax. I believe this diagram has a separate thread.
